Dickhead Romney assails Democrats in Washington on Syria visit, Iraq

DES MOINES, Iowa Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is calling House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria outrageous and accused Democrats in Washington of playing politics with Iraq.

The former Massachusetts governor, who's in Iowa today, says Washington is -- quote -- "a broken place right now, dysfunctional in some respects" as evidenced by Pelosi's trip.

Romney's comments came at a Statehouse news conference as Pelosi met with Syrian's president over the objections of the White House, and as President Bush and the Democrats struggle over the Iraq war.

Democrats want to include in a war-spending bill a date for troop withdrawal. Bush has threatened to veto any measure that includes a timetable.
