2 questions. Obama- Prop.8
1) What promises did President Obama make to the gay community before he got elected?

2) Why should the president get involved in the inner workings of the state of California?

Thanks

1. .
1) He promised to get rid of DADT, DOMA, and grant all the federal rights of marriage to all gay Americans...among others.

2) Because he's the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and it is a shameful thing to be the President of the United States when one of those states can outlaw the rights of an entire group of people by a simple ignorant, hateful majority.

3. +1!
Yeah, presidents never mention what's goin' on politically in a state they're in.

If he stood for us, he would say so. His silence is deafening.

4. ok
It looks to me like your response to #2 is just your opinion. And really, he has always claimed to be a bible thumper.

Now, #1. Did he actually say those things or are you assuming. If he actually said them, can you post links.
It isn't that I don't believe you. I am very linear and I like to be able to look at something and say "there it is, right there".

Thanks. BTW I do support gay marriage. Don't give up the fight. Don't ever give up.

5. You're Right. It IS Only My Opinion That What Happened in CA Was Shameful.

Apparently, you feel differently. Apparently, you feel that being a religious person entitles one to be a bigot.

I don't post links, especially when they're asked for by someone clearly with an agenda to defend Obama's do-nothing policy on his campaign promises to gays. Find them yourself. All you have to do is Google: Obama failed campaign promises GLBT, and I'll bet you get enough hits to last you throughout Obama's administration, which will be alright, because we'll still be able to have this same discussion about Obama's lack of action on GLBT rights then.

You are making assumptions about me.
Christians should care only about 2 groups of people. Christians, who are going to heaven. And non Christians who are not going to heaven.Going to heaven=good. Not going to heaven=bad.
Whether or not non Christians follow Christian rules does not not matter. Christians rules are for Christians. Christians should only be concerned with getting non Christians to become Christians.
I am not a Christian.
And since homosexuality occurs in animals at about the same rate as humans, the "unnatural" argument falls right apart. So homosexuals are just humans, as natural as all the rest of nature.
The opposition to gay marriage is entirely and totally about how people "feel" instead of what makes sense. They don't like gays because of their "feelings", and they oppose gay marriage because of their "feelings". It is just their "opinion" that gay marriage and gays are wrong. So I have little patience for feelings without reasons and so should you.

If the links are as plentiful as you claim I will find them myself shortly. Thanks for the help.

10. Did you read the quote where he specifically mentions
urging the States to act, from the Bully Pulpit, if we helped put him there? I keep reading folks whine about his not being able to 'get involved in State issues' when he very specifically stated that he would do just that, on GLBT issues, as President.

Using religion to rationalize one's prejudice is double bad, as it is prejudice and also it is openly contemptuous of the teachings of that faith. The use of the divine for the sake of one's own human agenda is the very definition of blasphemy, for those who really give a shit about what that faith actually teaches, as opposed to what politicians claim in teaches.
