It's not called "Quickie Mart"-- it's privately owned, the station name and the gas price signs change so constantly I don't really notice. It's down on the corner; we take a break from work, walk down the hill for fresh air and snacks.... I usually buy the newspaper, which may be why he said what he did today.
'Cause I don't know him that well; he's a nice guy and it's a busy corner quickie station and I ask him Howzitgoin and he says something trivial in reply-- a quick exchange of pleasantries, always someone breathin' down your neck, next in line....
...Today he kind of mumbled something about how it was going that I didn't quite catch and I gave my stock "Never a dull moment" (busy station, urban vibe, he's the owner and there most of the time...)
"Never a dull moment" (as I hand over some bills)
"I'm just not sure how long it's gonna last...." (as he reaches into the register)
I'M JUST NOT SURE HOW LONG IT'S GONNA LAST.
This is someone I don't know and don't recall ever talking to about politics. Like I said, I buy the paper so maybe he figures I'm paying attention.
So I say "You think they're trying to start World War Three?"
"I dunno, MAYBE." he replies, as I get some coin back and it's on to Next In Line.
:patriot:
The Emperor's New Clothes Are So Very Lovely but the Salt O' The Earth know EXACTLY what is going on and who is calling the shots and who the Big Players in the game are.
The Salt O' The Earth Connect The Dots and Break It Down and May use few words but when they do You gottta know It means something.
2008 is the Year of The Corporation vs. The People
But like Bruce said, We may not get there.
"I'M JUST NOT SURE HOW LONG IT'S GONNA LAST."
