Poll question: How asfe do you feel? After 8 years of GWB keeping us safe, we should feel safe, yes?
Pity about this economy, which would seem integral to national defense too, right?

1. Cops are probably the biggest threat to my well-being...
So yah, I'm a little worried about terrorists.

4. I was thinking more about jobs, but it's all good.
What's your issue against cops? I wouldn't want their jobs... more people should. Then they'd get to experience firsthand what they just gripe at cops over.

It's never so easy to complain when you have to live the life of a person one's moaning about.

Except in my case; I'd love to live a fancy, rich life.

But being shunned early on and I've always looked outside-in, you see...

14. I got a story for the cop haters...
My uncle was a cop for 27 years, and he retired a few years back. Back in the 1980's, he was involved in a lot of undercover drug stings, and during one, he wound up being instrumental in taking down the Mr. Big of the local meth trade.

This capo's underlings weren't too happy about this, and early one morning, my uncle was woken up by the sound of his pickup truck exploding and ripping apart part of his house with it. Other dealers had conspired to murder him and placed a bomb in his truck, which by a great stroke of luck detonated prematurely and my uncle was unharmed, though very startled.

Consider the hazards of the job before you say that cops are good for nothing.

16. One story. How about the CHP officer that killed my friends mom and himself?
Your so-called "story" means as much as mine does, got it?

7. I never feared another terrorist attack.
Edited on Sun May-24-09 03:02 PM by Drunken Irishman
It's the domestic assholes here that scare me.

You know, like the Beltway Sniper or a serial killer or a right-wing militant douchebag like Timmy McVeigh.

They're the true people we should fear.

And even then, I don't 'fear' them. I'm aware of them more than anymore.

9. None of the above. I never feared terrorists because I live in a place that
most terrorists wouldn't bother to attack. I have a bigger fear of earthquakes, brush fires and nuclear plant leaks where I live rather than terrorists. What I have felt with the Bush security measures is a joke at the airports and other venues that are supposed to make us feel safe. Instead I feel like I'm living in a fascist dictatorship that is trying to get as much information about me as it can through fear tactics.

Here's a little story that happened to me many years ago when I was working as a payroll bookkeeper. Back then you could drop in at the local IRS office to pick up forms if you needed them, or even ask questions if you felt like you would get a helpful answer. I was on my way to pick up forms one day at lunch time when I ran into a police barricade and was turned around. That night, when I went home, it was in the news that someone had planted a car bomb in front of the building that the IRS office was housed in. There was also a bank and many other businesses in the same building. The authorities theorized it was the IRS office that was targeted by a disgruntled tax payer. So here's an example of your home grown terrorists probably some white supremacist nut job who "loves his country but fears his government".

Now why airports are such a target of security when containers enter our ports from all over the world with practically no scrutiny doesn't make me feel safe at all.

Edited on Sun May-24-09 03:17 PM by TheWatcher
I mean, now that Obama has taken over is holding them accountable for all of their crimes, we should indeed feel safer.

Oh, Wait.....

13. Our neighbor had the back window on his van shot out. He knows who did it,
and he called the police. He was told that since he didn't SEE the incident and SEE it done, they would not even bother to come to the house to take a statement, because there was no proof of anything.

I think the police should just declare themselves neutral observers who are just waiting for retirement. I am afraid this will get worse.

19. Yeah I'm screwed, but terrorists don't have a thing to do with it.
Our domestic terrorists are the financial industry and their boys in DC, and they are killing us by the thousands with impunity, thanks in no small part to our new fearless leader.
