For whatever reason, I'm just noticing it.

1. Warm weather gouging
is my guess. Prices go up with demand, especially on long weekends.

2. When they realized Memorial Day Weekend was coming up...
no reason but greed for this price gouging.

We filled the tank last week, are pretty much staying home for most of the weekend.

3. Holiday weekend. More people driving, so they can notch up the price
and make some extra $$.

It'll probably slide back down after this weekend, but not to the level it was. I think the oil companies are going to try and start easing gas prices up again in that back and forth way they do.

16. And it's not just more people driving
during summer, they use more gasoline to run air conditioning. My little Hyundai Elantra shows a definite drop in gas mileage when I turn on the A/C. I try not to do it, but it's so damned humid here in the summer. I barely used it at all when I was living in Western Washington.

4. Overnight.
Plus, summer starts this weekend.

It's been on its way up where I live for the better part of two weeks now. Went from a buck-and-change one day to damned near $2 the next. I thought I was seeing things. Now, it's pushing $2.50.

For once in my life I had the good luck to fill up before price rose, but God knows what I'll be paying the next time around.

this last week. It was sudden.

I didn't fill up in the morning when gas was "only" $2.40. It was $2.50 on my way home from work. Can you say Holiday Weekend?

9. Since the last time I filled my tank.
I'm careful with a tank of gas. It lasts me 2 or 3 weeks, even with my daily commute to work.

The last two tanks of gas were both about 30 cents more per gallon than the tank before that.

12. I can go more than 500 miles on one tank and don't have to drive that far.
The price differences between fill-ups are shocking sometimes - in both directions. I've still got half a tank so I'll wait until after the holiday weekend.

14. "'Election's over! Time to start ramping the price back up again!"
Wasn't it interesting just how LOW gas prices went before November?
It didn't work this time, though.

26. I thought the high gas prices last year were Bush's fault?
Could it be that the president doesn't actually control everything in the country?
