Right, Senator Mad Max Baucus? RIGHT Mr. Insurance Salesman Baucus? In fact, Congress can

BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND HUMAN TREASURE FOR WAR (so much for Change we can believe in)

Senate Approves $91 Billion Funding Bill for Iraq, Afghan Wars
By Brian Faler
May 22 (Bloomberg) --

The U.S. Senate approved a $91 billion spending bill that would fund President Barack Obama’s troop buildup in Afghanistan and block a lawsuit seeking to force the release of photos showing abuse of war prisoners.

Senators voted 86-3 yesterday to approve the legislation, setting up negotiations with the House over a compromise measure. Democrats who control both chambers aim to send Obama a final bill early next month after returning from a weeklong Memorial Day recess.

While the vast majority of the money in the bill would fund military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, pushing total costs for the two wars to more than $900 billion, lawmakers focused on other issues during their three-day debate on the measure.

1. It truly is a mad world

Tears For Fears: "Mad World" --- Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MyMOi4LEr4

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Goin' nowhere, goin' nowhere
Their tears are fillin' up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dyin'
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Mad world, mad world

Children waitin' for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sits and listen, sits and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dyin'
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Mad world, mad world

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dyin'
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Mad world, mad world
A raunchy young world
Mad world

3. i contend that people wouldn't mind paying taxes so much if....
they got anything for their taxes. yes, our tax dollars are supposed to go for roads and schools and so many other things. but here in wny for isnstance.... there isn't one road that doesn't need fixing around here. i can't help but wonder where the money IS going. and it gets me to thinking about why so many get so mad about paying taxes. we aren't seeing where that money is going. like the thruway and it's tolls. they say the tolls go to fix the roads, and yet they get federal tax dollars for that and the grand island bridge just took out a big ass loan to pay for repairs to the bridge. if all the tolls are to fix the roads.... where does all that money go!!! and they'll use the repair and the loans as a reason to have to keep the thruway and it's tolls. but i digress.

i think, and this is even though people may not realize it right now, that if we had domestic programs like a single payer system and our schools were really schools again and things like that.... and our roads actually looked like anyone cared to keep them up.... people would not be so upset about taxes. if we had some visible means to see our dollars at work. but instead all our money is going to bail out banks and fight wars and to maintain armies all over the world. no wonder our deficit keeps going up. though no one seemed to worry about that when bush was doing it for his wars... yes, tax cuts AND two wars... how could that make our deficits soar??!!

i think, as i personally do, that we are being squeezed so much right now. and the taxes keep going up, and yet the roads are all full of potholes and our schools are cutting back and our kids aren't learning..... there are so many reasons why we are all hurting so much. and i think that single payer would help a lot of people. so many stress the health insurance and fighting with the insurance companies. even if we had a true public option i feel that most americans would jump at it... especially as costs rise in regular insurance.

4. We throw another 91,000,000,000 for war and death, but how much to bring the troops home?
Twice a year Congress passes a supplemental for $100 billion to fund the war. If the troops just gave their equipment to the Iraqi Army and came home, how much would it cost to just replace the equipment with new?

6. But the worst part was when Obama started the war against Iraq based on false intelligence
Edited on Fri May-22-09 07:02 AM by HamdenRice
and failed to capture bin Laden at Tora Bora.

Because Obama screwed up in Afghanistan and launched this insane war in Iraq, we have to keep throwing money down that rat hole.

Time to impeach Obama NOW!

7. CBO estimates....Single Payer eliminates at least 280 Billion year in admin waste
Cut out the wasteful and corrupt private insurance middleman and we savs enough to cover everyone without raising taxes.

That's the dirty secret about single payer... liberal benefits... fiscally conservative.

And that's why it's not on the table. They have to rig the debate by excluding it so they can get their desired outcome -- AHIP's wet dream --

Force everyone in the country to buy their defective product and get Uncle Sam to hand over billions in new subsidies to the PHI criminals.

Cash and Carry government folks, plain and simple.

Just say no to PAY TO PLAYER healthcare, and yes to the real solution -- SINGLE PAYER.

9. ah, but we CAN afford it . . .
all we have to do is cut out the middle man . . . insurance companies and HMOs contribute exactly NOTHING to the delivery of quality healthcare in the U.S., yet they take a third or more of every healthcare dollar spent . . .

this is the definition of "waste" . . . cut out the waste, and we can afford quality healthcare for everyone . . . it's really that simple . . .
