McCain is super desperate: He hired Nixon's "Jew Counter"!
McCain Camp Recruits Nixon's Jew-Counter As Finance Co-Chair

John McCain's campaign has just put out a press release announcing that GOP money-man Fred Malek has signed on as national finance co-chair. That's a very important, high-level gig.

There's only one problem, though: Decades before Malek agreed to count cash for McCain, he counted Jews for Richard Nixon. Jews that were subsequently demoted — allegedly for being Jewish, that is.

Malek's past — which was first flagged by The Nation's David Corn — is discussed in this article in The Washington Post from about a year ago. It says:

It was also in 1971, The Post reported, that Malek was given a patently anti-Semitic order from a paranoid Richard Nixon to count the Jews in high-ranking posts in the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Instead of refusing, Malek set about compiling a list of 13 of 35 top BLS employees who, he believed, were Jewish. Less than two months later, two senior BLS officials who were Jewish were moved out of their jobs to less visible posts. Malek acknowledges carrying out the disgusting hunt for Jews, but he denies having anything to do with the transfers.

:wow: McCain is now as desperate as he is pathetic. :nopity:

2. Amazing, isn't it . . .
. . . just how many Nixonites are still lurking about in the shadows, ready to cause more grief.

3. The real story about McCain is
how desperate he is. His campaign is a shambles. He looks worse every time I see him. He's groveling to the religious right. It'll be interesting to see how long he hangs in there.

5. OK, but he's never gonna get to the general
and frankly, I think even if he did, he's yesterday's news.

8. Agreed
His campaign is pretty much dead in the water. He should hang it up and save himself from more embarassment, but he's way too vain to do that.

11. Donald Segretti unavailable?
Too bad so many others have died; McCain would have had a great chance for the Republican nomination with Haldeman and Ehrlichman on his staff.

12. More on Malek from the Progressive Review
http://prorev.com/2007/04/mccain-hires-nixons-jew-hunter.htm

. . . .

Malek also served on the board of the DC-based Palmer National Bank, a private bank with an even more private history. It board included a number of other familiar GOP names and a man known as the "godfather" of the dirty Texas S&Ls. PNB served as banker to the National Endowment for the Preservation of Liberty in its fund-raising efforts on behalf of Oliver North's gun-running operations in Nicaragua and Iran.

PETE BREWTON, HOUSTON POST June 10, 1990 - Somewhere over the Pacific nine years ago, two former political operatives for George Bush launched a mysterious business relationship. One member of the duo had a long association with a key organized crime figure, and the other had extensive ties to the nation's intelligence community. Although they had no banking experience, they set out to create a special kind of bank in the nation's capital. Two years later, with seed money from a Louisiana organized crime figure who controlled billions of dollars and was instrumental in the failure of at least 12 savings and loans, they opened Palmer National Bank three blocks from the White House.

Although Palmer National remains solvent and has not been the target of any known criminal investigations, its history provides direct evidence of a connection between organized crime and the intelligence community in the operation of a federally insured financial institution. Since February, The Houston Post has reported on evidence pointing to a possible link between organized crime and the CIA in the failure of 25 financial institutions, whose demise could eventually cost taxpayers $75 billion. In the case of Palmer National, The Post has learned that it was listed on a 1985 report by the Comptroller of the Currency as one of 12 national banks under the possible influence or control of Louisiana organized crime associate Herman K. Beebe Sr.

PROGRESSIVE REVIEW - Malek has continued to do well, turning up as an advisor to the Carlyle Group, a sort of fiscal home away from home (especially in defense matters) for the well connected. In 1990, George W. Bush was asked by Carlyle Group to serve on the board of directors of Caterair, one of the nation's largest airline catering services which it had acquired in 1989. The offer was arranged by Malek.

MARC FISHER WASHINGTON POST January 5, 2002 - If either Washington or Northern Virginia is ever to get a team - downtown is where sports teams generate the best economic kick, but beggars can't be choosers -we must take four quick steps: . . . 3) Get rid of Fred Malek, the main moneyman behind the Washington Baseball Club, the District's ownership group. Malek has the advantages of being hugely rich and hugely connected in both business and politics, including having been co-owner of the Texas Rangers along with President Bush. But Malek is also the guy who did Dick Nixon's anti-Semitic bidding back in 1971, when the unimpeached co-conspirator ordered up a list of members of the "Jewish cabal" who worked at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Malek, the good soldier, produced the list, and soon enough, some of those Jews found themselves transferred. Malek says that he's no anti-Semite and that he actually refused Nixon's first few requests to produce the list. Maybe in his book that's backbone, but he has no business representing this city in any capacity.

Amazing that McCain would get in bed with these people after what they did to him in the 2000 election. I used to think McCain had integrity. My bad.

14. McCain is a disgusting old toady
Where the hell is the man who came back from 'Nam with ironclad principles?

I am beginning to wonder if he EVER existed, and I suddenly remember that McCain was tughtly connected to much of the criminal S & L frauds in the 80s.

Has he ALWAYS been a disgusting toady since he came back from 'Nam?

I try to respect McCain's service & POW ordeal, but his actions make that now impossible.

DISGUSTING. TOADY!

15. The duck principle.
If it has a ducksbill, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, swims like a duck, then it is a duck; it doesn't need to wear a sign. By his repeated Bush-ass-kissing/rightwing suckup/campaign finance hypocracy/Kerry backstabbing/forked tongue voice, McCain has clearly identified himself, and that creature is butt-ugly. I think I've described snake-in-the-grass. Sorry, snakes of the world.
