I've heard California is around (or over?) $4.00/gal., but I was pretty shocked to see a consistent $2.69/gal. all around the western burbs of Chicago this morning. What are the prices by you?

15. Here in the southwest suburbs of Chicago it ranges from

$2.62/gallon to $2.75/gallon for 87 octane. Diesel, which Mr. Wonderful uses for his work van is around $2.98/gallon.

I filled up 2 days ago and it was $2.62. Diesel was $2.75 at the I95 rest area on Sunday and hubby thought that was a good price.

If I had a tinfoil hat, I might say that California is being used as a guinea pig to see how far they can go before economic collapse sets in.

And if I had another tinfoil hat, I might notice Wyoming looks really odd and wonder who in BushCo has ties to that state? Texas looks pretty "cool" too.

But of course, I have no such hat. The very existence of such a hat is preposterous.

Hell, we're all getting hit hard by the looks of it.

I've never understood why that is (about the west/CA having such higher prices), but I know I'm not the only one who doesn't understand that.
