1. Constructive critique

HL, I applaud your efforts, but two suggestions for you. One, you need to take the opining out of your reports. You know, things like "...because that's what Republicans do." That's the sort of thing one expects from FAUX and has no place in real news. Watch/listen to Amy Goodman on Democracy Now!; she's got the professionalism thing down pat. Just the facts, no subjective filler. Let your audience put two and two together. We need more of that kind of reporting.

Second -- and I'm not a journalist nor do I play one on TV so have no idea how this is done -- but basically you need to familiarize yourself with the topic enough beforehand so that you don't have to go back and refine/clarify as you're speaking. Maybe have copy in front of you to refer to bullet points to keep yourself on track or something?
