I have to say I really disagreed with Jon Stewart tonight..
He's usually right on target to me but I can't say I agreed with him on the whole Miss California issue. It's one thing if she just expressed her opinion at the pagent and defended herself afterwards. But instead she actively participates in ads and campaigns opposing gay marriage and then goes on Fox News to talk about it. IMO, that crossed the line and made her a totally fair target. I don't think it was fair to demonize her JUST for her Miss USA comments but she could've easily handled it with class and diffused any controversy, but she sought it out herself by becoming the homophobes' new spokeswoman. After that, any dirty laundry she has in her past is fair to bring up.

15. i like how keith olbermann kept calling it a soft porn pageant or something like that.
oh, and they are out to make the world a better place. isn't the standard answer 'i want world peace'. lol. sorry. i don't think much of these pageants. i would rather a girl grow up to be more focused on their brains than on their looks.

3. He basically said that he agreed that she is being unfairly treated but disagrees with her views.
It's a reasonable stance as far as I'm concerned. This assuming she is an idiot and doesn't understand that Fox News is simply using her as a puppet.

5. I don't think anyone is that stupid.
If she didn't want the attention, it could've easily been done.

12. Eh at first ignorance is an excuse.
But willful ignorance is not. And she's starting to cross that line.

14. Both jumped on this story like a fly on horse shit.
From her public speeches, she doesn't seem to be all that experienced in anything other than looking like a model. She's being taken for a ride and when it's all said and done, she'll be tossed aside like the newspaper.

I can't help but feel some empathy for her. Even if I think she is dead wrong.

But that could be my bleeding heart. Who knows.

17. she is a bigot , i have no empathy for her
she has a right to her opinion and nobody is disputing that but people have a right to be critical of what people say also.

7. I didn't see it that way. His complaint was that her showing her tits . . .
Was not relevant. Also, that when the political world is obsessed with the thoughts of professional meat puppets, it might be time to consider raising our game a little.

For me, I'm perfectly happy for the wingnuts to keep up their strategy of allying themselves with brainless babbling spokestwits (see Plumber, Joe the) and squandering what little credibility they have.

10. When you willlingly become the national spokesperson for a political cause..
.. your skeletons in the closet are fair game.

If this was a question about whether the pagent should even have rules about nude pictures or whatever, then I couldn't care less. But if the rules are there, then she should have to abide by them.

18. Thank you. One of the most misused word pairs out there.
:applause:

Now, about Stewart. Maybe he will change his mind. KO did. He was originally of the opinion that releasing the undie pix of Saint Carrie of La Jolla (as he was calling her last night) was "going too far," that the media were picking on her. But one of his female guests enlightened him to her hypocrisy, and by the end of the segment he was agreeing with her! And of course he went after St. Carrie last night in a particularly venomous way.

It's possible Jon Stewart will come to see things the same way too.
