Today we moved another little step closer to marriage equality in America
Edited on Wed May-13-09 01:14 AM by bluestateguy
You know why? Because today all over this country, a bunch of elderly homophobes died. That's that many fewer anti-gay marriage ballots that will NOT be cast in the future. And tomorrow more elderly homophbes will die, and more the next day.

People under 35 support same sex marriage (in some states by huge margins). It's only a matter of time.

5. The next hard thing I have to do is lose my mom, who's marched in every pride parade
this city has ever had.

I think I have to go watch an infomercial or something.

6. I know, I lost mine over a year ago. She didn't give a flying fig what
a person's sexual orientation was. Good people were always welcome in her life.

7. Thank you.
If memory serves, the monsters who beat Matthew Shepard to death weren't over 35.

If only all the bigots, homophobes, racists and other assorted night riders were limited to one demographic group, get rid of that group and paradise on earth.

In fact any group that annoys me ....

oh wait.

2. One troubling thought for you...
one that has bothered ME for years now...

Some of those "elderly homophobes" that are shuffling off their mortal coils right now...

Those were the children of the sixties. you know, radical antiwar hippies doing drugs and "if it feels good do it".

How did they, now 45 years later, become bible thumping homophobic wingnuts... and will the Gen-Xers and GenY and now the Gen-Z (or whatever the hell they are called) follow in their parents and grandparents footsteps?

I would say it couldn't happen... but my older sister and the guy she married in 1967 (when I was still a wee tyke), both of whom were pot smoking near radicals back then... now they are about as conservative as can be.

Fortunately... I am, if anything, far more leftist than I used to be... and I started out pretty far left for a boy from Kansas.

3. What history repeat itself?
What you kidding me? Pass the reefer... just kidding

And you raise an issue that them young'uns are not even taking into account.

Though the answer for many of them 60s radicals is Reagan... and like all the trends will switch as well.

I just have to smile... and just hope to have given away my mortal coils when this country goes right again...
