--or sexist or anti-semitic for that matter-- and stood up and spewed it as an answer at a beauty queen competition, would that let me off the hook? (Because I was being "honest" and just saying "what I was raised to believe"?)

Let's say, further, that I thought something like blacks and whites shouldn't be allowed to marry each other (something that back in the day was defended by certain Biblical passages by some Christians). But hey, I was being "honest" and that was what I was "raised to believe" and even some others agree with me, so you know, it's okay.

1. Is that what Trump said?
Edited on Tue May-12-09 10:30 AM by closeupready
?? I mean, obviously, is that what he said about why he was letting Prejean off the hook?

13. He said the answer was OK and the pictures are acceptable.
I didn't hear him address the issue of her honesty about the pictures, but she gave a somewhat rambling "explanation" in her speech.

To tell the truth, I wasn't interested enough to pay attention to exactly what she said. More interesting to me was the degree to which she resembles those human-looking robots they make in Japan now. We're coming at it from the other direction!

2. Don't forget that you're also a liar and think exposing yourself in photos is modeling.
While, all at the same time, being a good role model.

3. I was raised in a racist home...
My father used epithets against black people all the time. I began learning it was wrong when I used one of them while we were out in public and I was told to hush. Later in life I was on a bus coming back from a mall when I got a nosebleed (which I was prone to as a teen). I had nothing to stop the bleeding, but this elderly black lady came forward and started to talk with me. I tried to ignore her. She insisted on giving me a box of tissues. That was the point in my life where I learned that nothing my father said was true. People of all races are good or bad, not just blacks. I thanked her over and over and she just smiled at me.

Little did she know the gift she had actually given me.

So, no, it doesn't let you off the hook. You have the capacity to grow beyond what you're taught and if you choose to maintain the ignorance then you can blame no one but yourself.

20. Right on!
I was fortunate enough to be raised in an open and liberal household, but I'd like to think that if my folks had been conservative racists, I'd still have been able to see the light on my own. I'd like to think that I'd have grown just as you did.

PLUS, in spite of all his nasty dealings, he likes to be thought of as a benevolent Father Figure. Anyone who thought for a second that he was going to FIRE the bimbo of the week is delusional.

7. Especially fake ones.
She's really not all that pretty...just plain magazine common girl pretty. The type that grows up to have a hard face and prim tight mouth.

12. I saw a picture of the Miss CA USA runner up and thought she was "cuter"
Granted, this was one shot but then again Carrie looks more natural in the "modeling" photos than she did on stage with the make-up slathered on.

Even though it probably should be. Best to let this bigot fade away from her own empty headedness.

I've lost interest in her already. Even her fake tits.

8. I had to turn her off
It was so fucking lame and she was all blubbering about her grandfather fighting in the battle of the bulge for her right to spew dumbassedness as it is her Constitutional right.

:eyes:

What a fucktard she is and what a dumb country we live in for giving her any kind of a platform.

Beauty contests are S-T-U-P-I-D!!!!!

14. Off the hook for what? Of course it is ok. Millions of people are like this.
But, like all image management, I wouldn't expect to win anything if I feel compelled to say that stuff out loud.

to be twisted. But he's an idiot anyway.

16. Is the Miss CA runner up blonde or brunette?
Edited on Tue May-12-09 10:57 AM by AspenRose
Anyone know?

If she's brunette, then maybe Trump just wanted to keep the blonde. But then again, Trump's latest wife is brunette I think.

The runner up was also making statements in public about how she'd be willing to take over if she were given the opportunity. I suspect Trump probably had problems with that too.

21. It would depend on how your body looked
are you a Barbie Doll with enhancements? Then you can get away with anything. Trump's excuses sound like ones a horny teenager would use.

Basically by letting the photos slide, Trump is saying what I always thought--these "beauty" pageants are merely a sexual show for certain male's fantasies.

26. No. At some point
you have to take responsibility for your actions and beliefs. You have to educate yourself. That is your own responsibility as an adult. It sucks to be raised to believe those things. It really does. It probably makes it harder to change your perspective, but it is NO excuse. Not when you are grown.
