Nice Wholesome Christian Folk! Todd Palin Calls Baby "A Mistake"

Bristol Palin: Baby 'not a mistake' but being a teen mom 'hard work'

There's a day for everything. Did you know that there is a day set aside for the eighth annual National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. And its famous spokesteen this year is Bristol Palin, daughter of one-time GOP vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin?

On the Today show this morning, Bristol Palin said that her son was not a mistake but "a blessing." She added, however, that being a teen mom is "hard work." “I’m up all night with ,'' she said. "I’m constantly changing diapers and making bottles. Your priorities change 100 percent.”

She appeared on the show with her dad, Alaska's "First Dude" Todd Palin, who in his remarks did say that her job with the Candie's Foundation, sponsors of the day to prevent teen pregnancy, is to share her experience -- "sharing the mistake she made a year ago."

<snip>

Bristol, however, would not address her relationship with the baby's daddy Levi Johnston. She would only say that he is still in Tripp's life but added, "I'm not here to talk about my personal life." Really? I would think that discussing the guy who professes his undying love to you to get you to sleep with him and then goes on national TV to discuss those intimate moments might be a good lesson for teens to hear.

3. Judging on how many people voted for Bush twice, I'd say there were a lot of "those" mistakes made.

4. To be clear, he didn't call the BABY "a mistake"...

11. Yeah, and it's as dishonest as the hype over Obama's "children are a punishment" statement.
It was abysmally stupid and dishonest to suggest that Obama was calling children a "punishment" and it's abysmally stupid and dishonest to suggest that Todd Palin was calling Track or Trace or Tonka or whatever the hell that kid's name is a "mistake".

7. sure it's a mistake
The mistake is teaching "abstinence only" to your kids then thinking they won't get pregnant. :eyes:

8. That poor kid has no skills, no real opportunities, and she's stuck in a family of kooks.
She's probably doing this foolish thing to get some dough. It's probably not too much fun for her, having to ask her parents for twenty bucks to go to the movies or to buy a pack of underwear and socks.

I feel sorry for kids when their parents shove them out onto the public stage, like they're dancing poodles. This kid doesn't have many options.

12. Mistake, accident, surprise--people have all kinds of terms for unintended pregnancies.
While I find this entire Palin mess revolting, I have to admit I can't say I am amazed that the kid may have used the term mistake in any context when discussing an unplanned pregnancy. It is a pretty common term in that situation.

I will give that girl a pat on the back, however, for at least using the term "blessing" in reference to her child. That is all too rare.

The baby was an accident, not a mistake.
