Official Libby Case Website: Fitzgerald's Office Posts Court Exhibits and Court Filings
Edited on Sat Jan-27-07 11:42 AM by CorpGovActivist
I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, but here are the court exhibits filed so far:

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/

Here are the two letters appointing Fitzgerald, and defining his authority and powers, too:

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/documents/ag_letter_december_30_2003.pdf

http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/documents/ag_letter_feburary_06_2004.pdf

Best to all,

- Dave

39. it is ridiculous dave...
...so cold that all of the crocus and daffodil greenery that had come up is frozen and dying again.

I think we might've reached 4 degrees on Friday night? Today was actually an improvement!

Brrrrrrrr.... There's your weather report from the Nawth Country, where just thinking about Henry Waxman's committee(s) and the Good Works of Fitz is enough to keep this Criley warm!

Fitzgerald's staff has just proven what the Age of the Internet can do, and Waxman's staff are *at least* as tech-savvy (trust me).

Maybe Congress should consider a bill that only allows recruitment centers in VA hospitals. That way our future soldiers will get a good look at what they can count on in the future.

28. The stuff that pops out of my head surprises me sometimes!!
I grew up in a military town and my dad worked for the DoA.I learned first hand what happens to vets after wars.
One of my towns most colorful 'charectors'was reduced to his condition as a result of war.Poor guys brain was scrambled from concussive shock from a near miss.
In high school I worked in a Ruby Tuesdays where many Army Rangers hung out.Quite often they would disappear for a while and when they returned from whereever they were they would have haunted looks in their eyes.Or one would not return. When asked why,his comrades would reply that he died in a "training accident".Now,I'm sure some did die that way,but I could always tell the difference when there was more to the story than they were allowed to talk about.I would start giving them beer and shots and after a few such rounds the true story would usually come out.The shit our gov had them doing would have totally outraged me if I had had the political awareness I have now.
Unfortunately, back then I was brainwashed enough to believe they died defending our freedom.I realize now that, like today, they were getting killed to protect some corporations profits.

END THIS WAR NOW!!!

36. Fitzgerald Has Done a Great Service...
... and his act of defiance, insisting that his powers are "plenary," bodes well for his ability to tender a "final report" to Congress (which Waxman and/or Conyers can then run with):

45. James B. Comey
Interesting that he clarified the plenary powers of Fitz's appointment.

Acting Attorney General Comey had also refused to ok the NSA wiretapping plans, leaving Card and others to a trip to the hospital to see if Ashcroft could sign off on that. (Ashcroft was hospitalized with the gall bladder probs.)

Verrrry interesting...

that about Alberto being along for the ride! Could only remember Card.

Here's more about Comey:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11079547/site/newsweek/

A bit of it here ...

"At Justice, Comey, Ashcroft's No. 2, was acting as attorney general. The grandson of an Irish cop and a former U.S. attorney from Manhattan, Comey, 45, is a straight arrow. (It was Comey who appointed his friend—the equally straitlaced and dogged Patrick Fitzgerald—to be the special prosecutor in the Valerie Plame leak-investigation case.) Goldsmith raised with Comey serious questions about the secret eavesdropping program, according to two sources familiar with the episode. He was joined by a former OLC lawyer, Patrick Philbin, who had become national-security aide to the deputy attorney general. Comey backed them up. The White House was told: no reauthorization."

52. More at Newsweek...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8853002/site/newsweek/

"Associate Attorney General Robert McCallum is 'likely' to be named as acting deputy A.G., a DOJ official who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter tells NEWSWEEK. But McCallum may be seen as having his own conflicts: he is an old friend of President Bush's and a member of his Skull and Bones class at Yale. One question: how much authority Comey's successor will have over Fitzgerald."

I love Scooter's description of Cranky using his little shiv to carefully cut articles from the newspaper. One of the major highlights for me.

Link to the article with that tiny handwriting -- It's Exhibit A:

Wonder if the cranky one will tell Fitz that he's out of line!

55. U.S. v. Libby
At one table, the prosecution.

At the other table, Libby's defense.

At no table, anyone who represents Cheney.

He's a defense witness, not a party. Libby's defense lawyers are charged with mounting the best defense possible for Libby - not with protecting the VP from looking like an ass.
