12. yes, it's actually quite sweet.
Not sure if I'd really want my child kissing a pig, but it's a sweet picture.

6. At least the pigs are in sunlight.
I read an article in the Rolling Stone once that stated pigs spend their entire lives in darkness and terror. Haunts me to this day. That and the stories about the cows that bolt on their way to slaughter. Persuasive argument for vegetarianism.

7. Factory Farms
I am on a crusade, and have been for years to have factory farms renamed simply meat factories. These hellholes have nothing to do with farms or farming, the only reason they have for existing as a farm is to avoid regulation as a factory.

I'm convinced that the more people know about factory farms the more they will purchase their food locally from real farmers. I'm no vegetarian and never will be but I'll be damned if I'll buy a chicken from Tyson or a generic pork product from some place than never let it's pigs actually walk on the ground and get some sun.

9. I used to faithfully watch Paula Deene. I loved her personality and
sense of humor, but after her agreeing to be spokesperson for Smithfield that was it. How awful.

10. On the bright side, some would theorize that that baby will never get asthma!
"Midodzi speculates that exposure to compounds called "endotoxins" from animal viruses and manure and avoidance of urban environment early in life might have reduced the risk for development of asthma."

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071016135444.htm

I think the theory is bogus myself, that the problem is stuff the city kids are exposed to that farm kids aren't.
