I'm really starting to hate all these anti-Republican editorial cartoons
They make elephants look so bad. They are intelligent animals, with great memories, that live in tight knit family groups and they play an important role in the environment.

They're not like Republicans at all.

These cartoons give elephants a bad image.

4. Why not change it to a condom?
A condom accepts inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed.

5. I'm sick and tired of the noble sewer rat being defamed like this.
The mighty sewer rat--the true maverick among the urban-adapted ferals--plays a critical role the circle of life that sustains us all. Please take your hatred elsewhere... like to the Lounge!

11. The lion was the symbol of the Democrats in early Nast cartoons
Keep in mind, when Nast did his toons the GOP was the party of Reconstruction, anti-slavery, civil rights, and government support for updating infrastructure.

10. Elephants have long memories and rip the shit out of forests they inhabit
Elephants de-grass meadows, knock over trees to sharpen their tusks, and chase off as much of the competing wild life in their neighborhooes as they can. You can it's nature and not a choice, but elephants are without a doubt the messiest and most wasteful punks in the ecosystem.

31. Well their days are numbered
Since Africa is allowing the Ivory market to flourish and China and Japan are buying it up. It was on 60 minutes last Sunday after Joe but I couldn't watch it all the way. Baby Elephants who lose their mothers early can die within days of not getting fed. I feel that is something we should stop immediately.

20. They don't stay in one area very long unless forced to by encroachment
on their traveling routes and destinations. Any migratory animal will do a great deal of harm to the environment if they aren't able to move around.

23. Again, quite comparable to the winter migratory routes of the North American neo con
They travel all the way from out of right field to get to the once in a blue moon, but they never, never visit the Hague anymore.

I wonder why that is...

21. Only if they are overstocked. Their taking down trees enhances the "edge effect"
that is, the introduction of more boundaries between forest and pasture, which increases biodiversity.

There's a reason that African countries with game parks strive to re-introduce the elephant.

34. I couldn't agree more about the elephants.
I posted something a day or so ago about how elephants shouldn't be the symbol for those people. Then, on Friday someone posted the story about an elephant rampage in India I think it was and another person posted this excellent NY Times editorial about elepants in Africa and about woman named Eve Abe. Then finally, I was so interested I found this (ture story) book, "Modoc: The True Story of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived", by Ralph Helfer. It's a book for the middle-school age kids but anyone would enjoy it. Of course, a lot of the adventures seem emblished but, hey...there's nothing like a good story.
