Joan Walsh (Salon.com) distilled it down on Face the Nation this morning

No video up yet, but in the discussion of whether torture was OK if it got results, she made the point that it didn't matter - Torture is ILLEGAL! She compared it to murder - you might get the results you want, but it is still illegal.

My major complaint with her on this segment was that she will not get loud enough to talk over the other talking heads who were yammering on about when torture was permitted.

Torture = murder = illegal. That is the essence of the argument, no other point need be made.

1. She was on with Howie Kurtz on CNN this morning as well. Made the same point,

and it was frustrating to watch the apologist's act like it was just her opinion. They kept quoting polls showing how 45% of Americans think it's okay to tortue. She had a great response: If 80% of Americans wanted to kill Cheney, it would still be illegal. Duh.

You're right though, she is too polite with these fools.

And get confused - especially since I am working on four hours sleep today. I loved her line about 80% wanting to kill Cheney!

3. I asked some guys just yesterday if they would like to have the what's done is done defense

Used by Ted Bundy or Charlie Manson. The conversation kinda stopped and now I'm getting basically Obama is a poopy-head.
