New Utah Prosecutor is Person who Tampered with Patriot Act to Allow USA Firings!
Edited on Sun Apr-01-07 12:17 PM by KoKo01
Weren't we led to believe that it was a "staffer" in Sen. Specter's Office who "did the dirty deed" of inserting the language in the Patriot Act Revision. Yet it seems it was Orrin Hatch who rewarded Tolman by pushing for him to be Prosecutor for Utah. AMAZING!

Prosecutor Posts Go To Bush Insiders

A fourth adviser -- Sampson -- had an even more influential position. He was in charge of U.S. attorney selections in the White House counsel's office and later at Justice, where he eventually became Gonzales's chief of staff. Sampson also coordinated the firings, and last month he resigned as the controversy swelled.

Sampson sought to be a U.S. attorney, too, and he was the administration's preferred choice last year to be chief prosecutor in his native Utah. But he was nudged aside for another GOP lawyer, Brett L. Tolman, who was favored by Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah). Tolman was counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee in late 2005 when, at Justice's request, he had language inserted into USA Patriot Act legislation that allowed Gonzales to circumvent Senate confirmation by appointing interim U.S. attorneys indefinitely. Congress is in the process of repealing the provision.

1. Isn't it funny that staffers and aides
give the impression that the people are lower level employees.

When in reality these guys are movers and shakers but just not in the top positions. The media plays along with this deception to give the impression the fraud and corruption is not that close to the top guys.

3. Now, I'm sure that Orrin Hatch, being the honorable guy he is...
will recuse himself from the Senate Judiciary Committee's investigation into these firings! :sarcasm:

I think his butt is getting a little too close to the hot stove that is this AG scandal.

It's gonna leave a mark.

20. yup - Urine Utah!
The local evening news here in SLC mentioned Hatch's displeasure with the AG scandal, but of course being the walking handjobs they are, the local media didn't mention his direct involvement in dictating which Mormon was acceptable in the role of U.S. Attorney for Utah.

12. What happens to the U.S. attorneys that were appointed by circumventing the Senate for confirmation?
They should ALL be recalled and either go before the Senate for confirmation or be replaced!

This must be illegal? NO? :wtf:

Good grief. Repuke think tanks must be spending all their time thinking of ways to break the law. This shit is ENDLESS. Nixon was an angel compared to these thugs!

And Sampson's attorney is an expert on the loopholes of the NSA and the Patriot Act, it seems,

Legal loophole emerges in NSA spy program

And not to be outdone, Goodling's attny is John Dowd, an expert on moneylaundering

"When Agents Serve Search Warrant, Businesses Must Know Rules of Game (Part 2 of 2),," Money Laundering Alert, June 2001

Pass me the barf bag, I'm gonna heave all over...this is all about keeping covered up the GOP/CIA money supply described in this article:

"It's all part of a growing ongoing investigation into corruption in defense and intelligence contracts, which already has sent former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham to prison and, legal sources say, may threaten others in Congress and the CIA. "

17. And...the fight between Leahy and the WH over the April 17th appearance of Gonzales
where the WH is pushing for Gonzales to appear before Senate has "deposed" all the EVIL (Monica Goodling the 1999 graduate of Gerry Falwell's Law School, Regent U.) and the rest of them who will show that Gonzales was a TOOL OF ROVE/BUSH!

22. It gets worse. Apparently Orin Hatchet-job is campaigning to be the new AG.
See the video on Crooks & Liars: http://tinyurl.com/2frnna

"It was sweet music to my ears when I heard that Orrin Hatch was campaigning to take Alberto Gonzales' job away from him. We at C&L just love the man from Utah and think it's a wonderful idea that he would try to snatch the job away from Gonzo at his time of need.

MR. RUSSERT: Would Senator Hatch be an acceptable replacement to Mr. Gonzales?

SEN. LEAHY: Well, I, I—the rumor on, on the Hill this week was he was actively running for it, but, you know, I’m going to have to leave..."
