I need some nerves of steel now
I still havent filed my taxes yet. I know I'm getting money back, but 2008 sucked for me financially, as I lost my job. I just can't bring myself to face that I had a shitty year financially and don't want to face my taxes.

Is this normal>

1. Dude, suck it up and file 'em.
As bad as last year was, this coming year will be infinitely worse if you've got the IRS on your ass.

2. you can still file an extension...
....unless you are not in the continental U.S.

An extension will allow you until August to take care of the filing. You will have to put a few figures down on the form. You can print out that form online, and run it to a drop box before midnight.

3. What IS normal?
I mean.. is anything normal these days?

Just look at the neo-confederate Gov. Perry.

I can understand not wanting to face taxes...
that actually sounds kinda normal.. but
you gotta push through it.

Maybe think about getting one of those
free services to do them for you. That's
what I did. It cost me, but it was WAY
better than doing it myself.

5. No sense in throwing more money away. File them.
And you may be pleasantly surprised at your exemptions and credits (as I was).

I'm sorry that this was such a tough year for you, but think of this as getting one step closer to putting it all behind you.

6. There is no normal
I lost more money last year than I made the first forty years of my life! No worries, I'm still doing fine. On the bright side, every recession is followed by an upturn in the economy. Hang on!

7. YES, it is EMPHATICALLY NORMAL,
in spite of what some :??:??? say. You're protecting yourself from unpleasant thoughts/memories. Me too.

8. Yeah, I've been there
although the need to get the IRS monkey off my back was greater than my need for avoidance. There were years I did my taxes and once I added up the pathetic income, wondered what I'd been eating all year since it wasn't enough to keep a cat.

9. Canadians have until April 30th to file their returns.
Yet another reason to hate Canada. ;)

10. File an extension.
If you don't owe any, there won't be a problem.
