Hells Angels head to Oakland this weekend to celebrate club's 50th birthday
Hells Angels members gather outside the historic clubhouse in Oakland. The Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Oakland Chapter in 1957. Chronicle



Oakland police say they expect a peaceful weekend, but extra officers will be on duty, just in case.

Police estimate that 600 to 800 bikers will participate; others says attendees could number in the thousands.

The events include a concert tonight at Historic Sweet's Ballroom in Oakland, a venue that can accommodate 900 people -- and general manager Steve Snider said it will likely sell out.
