I was just watching last night's Olbermann
He said Monica Goodling's law degree may be from a nonaccredited university. Does anyone have more information? Thanks.

5. Regent University's School of Law is ABA accredited
so I don't think that's what they meant.

2. Regent university - a collection of reichwing nuts and ultra-religious
maniacs, intent on taking over every branch of government for their own nefarious ways, and that is no exaggeration.

12. ergo, it follows that . . .
they are inexperienced, young, naive, easily swayed, profoundly belief-driven, and lacking in insight, knowledge outside what they were told, and worst of all, bonded by their christian word to Rove, Bush and the neoconman version of the American weigh.

pardon me while I:
a) puke
b) find my passport
c) load my gun just to protect against these assholes coming after me
d) Puke again
e) start researching which Regent Assholes have screwed up what programs so badly.

7. She's an alumna of Regent.
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 06:33 PM by BerryBush
Alumnus = singular, male
Alumna = singular, female
Alumni = plural

Ah, here's the rub. Jonathan Turley was saying she graduated prior to Regent's law school accreditation, which came in 1996.

On edit: Not sure he's right about that, though. I'm going to check.

on edit: He said she graduated "eight, nine years ago," but if so, Regent was accredited by then.

6. I researched this earlier in the week.
http://www.regent.edu/general/about_us/history.cfm

<snip>
The school is accredited by major academic governing bodies such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), and the American Bar Association (ABA), the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

11. I'm looking at the transcript of last night's show
and Keith and Jonathan were definitely hitting below the belt, which they don't normally do. The implication they were making with their comments was that Regent is no better than a diploma mill. Regent was ABA accredited in 1996, and Goodling got her bachelor's from Messiah the year before, so she could only have gotten her J.D. from Regent following its accreditation.

Now you can question the ethics being taught by this supposedly "Christian" law school that is teaching its grads to plead the Fifth, but you can't really call it a diploma mill.

14. the other one
They were also talking about another guy who seemed to have gotten his diploma from a lesser university.

I did like his description of it though, "self addressed stamped university"
