3. The owner of a large international shipping line
makes a secret deal with the pirates. They take the ships and he pays out the millions in ransom money; they give him a percentage of the cash, under the table. He needs the extra money because he is a is secretly a member of a doomsday cult and is preparing a underground safe-house beneath his Hamptons mansion.

All goes well until the pirates take one of the captains hostage. He is eventually released - but while he was being held he overhears the pirates discussing the deal they have with the shipping magnate. He returns to the US and tries to blackmail the owner, who arranges for the captain to be mysteriously washed overboard on his next trip. Unfortunately, the crewman responsible for the deed miscalculates where they are and the ship is still in US waters. What looks like a terrible twist of fate becomes suspicious when the captain's widow finds a 'only open this after my death' letter that implicates the owner. The owner, however, has mysteriously disappeared as well. Enter Law & Order: CI.

Time to air: depends on the outcome of the actual event. I'll say 8 months to a year (if at all).

4. Stolen yacht in NY is used to smuggle drugs from SA.

Something like that. Feel free to expand. Oh yeah pirates did it all.

Buy if you really want a story cover the pirates on Wall Street. The Somalis got nothing on them.

9. Hostage situation on the Hudson River Day Liner or Staten Island Ferry.
A terrorist group seized the ships & threaten to blow them up if they aren't paid 200 million in small bills. The small rubber raft carrying the money capsizes sending ones, fives & tens down to Hell's Gate.}(

I'm sure they could works something up.

10. I'm not even up on this, but...
I can't help but kind of admire these pirates. They're the ultimate bad asses, not afraid to give a big, 'Fuck You' to the 'powerful' countries who put billions into their militaries.

12. "Refuse"
One of the garbage scows towing NYC garbage out to sea is captured by pirates, who threaten to turn it around and dump the contents on Wall Street unless they are given a ransom. The crew overpowers most of the pirates by opening the barge holes, but some escape in a raft with the captain. Jack McCoy, as the New York County DA, sensing a boost to his election bid, orders the NYC cops to solve the problem. Lupo and Bernard, cops from the 2-7, are able to figure out that the people behind the pirates are those who wanted Arthur Branch back in power. Meanwhile, McCoy takes to a speedboat to reason with the pirates, telling them the jig is up.

17. CNN did an hour on the Somali pirates' Al Quaeda connections earlier....
That was completely predictable.

I'm amazed they haven't run a story on the banksters' Al Quaeda connections. Oh wait - no I'm not.
