"CBS11 News reports that the http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/04/03/231220&tid=95">raid on Core IP networks is in the result of an investigation into http://cbs11tv.com/local/Core.IP.Networks.2.975776.html">unpaid telco access fees paid by CLECs and VoIP carriers to terminate calls on their networks. They also report that this raid is linked to the http://www.uwwwb.com/">March 12th raid on Crydon Technology's datacenter, which also hosted VOIP providers. Anyone in the telco business will tell you access fees to other carriers are a total mess and lots of carriers have unpaid balances out there. It gives you the feeling that the FBI is acting as a collection agency for AT&T and Verizon."

As a friend explained it to me, the FBI raided this business (Core IP Networks) and seized all of their servers, including equipment that belonged to innocent parties. Because some local phone companies had their servers hosted by Core IP, there were reports that this caused phone outages and 911 service interruption in several communities.

At first people thought this was related to the leak of the film "Wolverine", which would have been bad enough, but the fact that it's about unpaid bills seems even more disturbing.
