And is talking about the richness and value of the world's religions.

Comments?

On edit:
I knew this and have heard it before. I'm fine with it.
I just haven't seen it brought up at DU for a while and was wondering how many others knew this.

3. Thom is very Christian
in that he is a believer in the words of Jesus the Christ. if all who called themselves "Christian" were like Thom, we would live in a much, much better world.

There are lots of deeply devoted Christians that are good liberals.

14. Like, Martin Luther King, John Kennedy, and on and on, many, many.
Then, of course, there is Jesus who was about as liberal for his time as anyone could be. He actually advised people to help those of other tribes. Jesus advised people to be good human beings and not to just follow religious rules. You can't get more liberal than that -- correct conduct rather than strict adherence to rules.

I don't happen to care one whit about his inner spiritual life. Bully for him.

18. I wonder if he's a Christian as in: "I admire and attempt to follow the teachings of Jesus"
or if he goes a step farther and believes that Jesus was divine, was killed, came back from the dead, and is going to come back again. To me that is a huge leap (of faith, ba da boom).
