Yay! My dad got a job today!
He's a CPA that had been working as a payroll manager for many years. He got laid off right before inauguration and had to take a pay cut even before then.

I've been pretty concerned because everything seemed to be working against him. He's 61, has a medical condition that requires continuous treatment, and is in a house that isn't worth nearly as much as it was when he bought it (he rented it for years, but the owners sold it in 2007 and now it's worth about $80-100k less). The job market here in Southern CA has been terrible, the housing market, even worse. I thought his best hope of getting a job was moving, but what could he do about the house?

Well, I'm pleased to say that he's back to work with a high-potential and growing company. Yay!! I'm in the Navy and relocating away from San Diego in a few weeks, so I feel much better leaving knowing that things are back on track for him.

1. Wow, pass along my congrats to your Dad!
It's tough on us middle-agers, in the homestretch to retirement. Good for him, buy him a beer for me!

4. That is such good news
Of course, having this in the back of your mind, had to take a toll on your well-being also.
Now everybody can take a breath and breathe easy.

5. dads are such important people,..they always try to protect us from the realities of the world
my dad died when I was 16 and I miss him even today....I am so glad he has a job..he is the most important man in your life...even AFTER you marry (for me anyway)..maybe cause he was gone before I marrried? he remained the most important man..the one to compare others by?
