Will open up 400 ballots on April 6, and count them April 7. Looks like the ballots are a compilation of some votes that each side wanted counted.

Can you say, Senator Franken?

Court to count up to 400 ballots in Senate recount trial
The absentee ballots are far fewer than Norm Coleman sought and appear to include many that Al Franken had identified as wrongly rejected.

By PAT DOYLE, Star Tribune

In a potentially decisive ruling, a panel of three judges today ordered up to 400 new absentee ballots opened and counted, far fewer than Republican Norm Coleman had sought in his effort to overcome a lead by DFLer Al Franken.

The ballots also appear to include many that Franken had identified as wrongly rejected as well as ballots that Coleman wanted opened.

1. The Governor has promised to withhold a certificate until the appeals process...
is resolved, and Coleman is promising appeals - year after year of appeals...

Franken in 2013 - maybe...

5. He's also a Republican mulling a run for the White House. While obstructing this might
excite the dead-enders, it would not go over well with the general public.

6. What is the purpose of waiting another week to find out?
I think they just want to drag this thing out for their own, either amusement, or somehow, gain. If the votes need to be counted, then count the damn things and get this thing over and done with.

7. 400 ballots probably requires a full day or more...
time has to be allotted and scheduled, the concerned parties/reps gotten together...less important issues would probably take a lot longer.

10. they are absentee ballots that have to be hand-counted...
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 08:16 PM by dysfunctional press
when they count "four million overnight" it's done by machines that have been doing the tabulating all day while people have been voting.

relax.

9. It's because the ballots have to be gathered from precincts all over the state...
...and transported, under appropriate supervision, to the capital in St. Paul for counting.

12. Nope. All the precincts were ordered to secure their ballots. The ballots will have to be
physically transported to the court.

13. Coleman's lawyers have already announced an appeal
to the MN State Supreme Court. There aren't enought ballots that are being counted to overturn the election. With only 400 being counted, Normie would haved to win 80% of the ballots to overtake Franken. Highly unlikely.
