Someone will be in here to talk about how he was the victim with the standard 'what about teh menz" victimhood stuff.

11. Maybe if you educated yourself about the case, you'd *know* he was a victim also...
Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miami Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she "propositioned him for straight sex." Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly "bit his tongue and would not let go." Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue. The affidavit, a copy of which you'll find here, notes that during the 4 AM fight Harris sustained facial fractures and lacerations all over her face (she is pictured here in mug shots snapped following busts in 2008 and 2005). After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the Setai lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse. "Both parties had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their persons," police reported. In a brief telephone interview, Harris declined to answer TSG questions about her run-in with Shlomi, though she did say she is considering a lawsuit against the pitchman. Asked if she worked as a hooker, Harris declined comment. As seen in the below mug shot, Shlomi was also injured during the fracas and, court records show, was treated at Mount Sinai Medical Center. While Shlomi and Harris were both arrested for felony aggravated battery, prosecutors this month declined to file formal charges against the combatants.

What would *you* do if someone had *your* tongue clamped down in their teeth and wouldn't let go?

22. Yeah, what the hell was she thinking?
If you bite someone's tongue and refuse to let go, how did she think he was going to react? I mean, she ought to be getting some assault charges slapped on her, too. What he did was self-defense.

Of course, I think he should get charged for picking up a hooker, but that psycho bitch needs to do some time for such a sick crime.

I actively disliked him just from his commercials... My first take on this misleading OP was that he beat up his girlfriend because it seemed in character for this creepy TV pitchman but I had to edit my first post after reading the actual story. The OP owner sucked me with a cheap shot post in but I read the story and am on to his /her game.

His fists could reach every place on her face that was hit. There were no fist hits to her mouth which is what I would expect if the hits were post biting and he was free to hit her anywhere. They are all on her eyes nose and upper face.

.. in fact, I'd say that you don't know jack shit.

Please explain, in detail, how anatomy and physics won't allow me to punch someone in the eye that's standing right in front of me...

I certainly wouldn't have given her an uppercut to the jaw, she would have bitten my tongue off. DO you have a "rudimentary understanding" of self defense? How about 'close quarters combat'?

Save your eye rolling for someone who gives a fuck, ok?

83. There's no need to call yourself names, or put yourself down....
We've already established that you're clueless...

What part of "Please explain, in detail, how anatomy and physics won't allow me to punch someone in the eye that's standing right in front of me..." was a foreign language to you that you didn't understand? You failed to do so in your reply.

As for trying it my self, I already *know* what *I'm* capable of doing. I trained in the martial arts and self defense for most of my life. I'm quite adept at close quarters combat, and I used to get paid to beat people up. Given my choice, I'd rather fight someone in close quarters, like a bathroom stall, or even a phone booth...

This isn't about me, though... this is about you backing up your claims and showing your understanding of anatomy & physics, and explaining how it would prevent someone from doing what shamwow guy did.

You *can* explain it, with your "rudimentary understanding", can't you?

Thanks,

Ghost

Why do you keep dodging the issue, which is YOU backing up YOUR claims. I have a low tolerance for ignorance. Quit changing the subject and back up your assertions. Moving the goal posts doesn't help your case..

As for your "internet tough guy" bullshit, it really doesn't merit a response, but here goes... no, I don't play an "internet tough guy". I did, however, lead a very rough and violent life in my younger days. Maybe you can research some of my old threads... not all of us here are pacifists. Not all of us lived "leave it to Beaver" or "Richie Cunningham" lives like good little cub scouts and all american boys. I used to be an enforcer for a very notorious bike gang *and* the Aryan Brotherhood.

Since you seem to be too ignorant to have an intelligent discussion with, I'm done with you. Like I said, I have a low tolerance for ignorance.... go ahead and have the last word, you're not worth responding to again...

Have a nice day....

Can't touch a woman, no matter what she does to you.

Last week there was that story about the guy who was handcuffed and being bitten by his ex-wife and screaming in pain to the 911 operator because he didn't want to hit her to get her to stop because he knew it would get him arrested. Not surprisingly, it dropped like a rock with little (mostly snarky) or no comment.

Vince Shamwow guy is likely the liar and creep in this incident, but that doesn't change the fact that there are cases where men get abused and won't fight back. Violence perpetuates violence.

14. Of course there is a small percentage of violent assaults
that are perpetrated by women against men. But, they are just that--a very small percentage.

What I find fascinating is that some men can't discuss men's violence towards women without throwing a defensive "but what about ___" and trying to change the subject to teh menz as victims.

"What I find fascinating is that some men can't discuss men's violence towards women without throwing a defensive "but what about ___" and trying to change the subject to teh menz as victims."

The problem is, here's a case that's not the 90 plus percent of typical asshole woman/wife beaters slapping a woman around for the hell of it. There may be mitigating circumstances behind it. You're trying to dismiss it to the rankin file by marginalizing those who simply ask "What do you do in a case like this?"

Maybe she got rough in a little biting foreplay and he flipped out? Who knows? Her injuries look pretty severe for the "Just trying to get her off me" defense. Both parties' lips seem fucked up, which seems to back up that there was some sort of biting/pulling action there.

it would have been far more incapacitating than biting the tongue but neither of us were there.

In the absence of her cooperating with the police and with a plausible self defense justification, I don't see how she's gonna be successful in an assault lawsuit. At the very best it's he said she said, worst case, she attacked him and he defended himself, that's what it looks like to me,

13. Biting someone's tongue off is a serious assault..
We're not talking about a simple slap or punch from her that he should have let go. You don't get a free pass for trying to bite someone's tongue off any more than you do for hitting somebody with a blunt object like a bat or a golf club or stabbing or shooting. Even if you are a man and your assaulter is a woman you have a reasonable right to defend against that kind of assault at least to the point of getting your tongue out of danger. He doesn't get to keep whaling on her after that point but he does get to keep his tongue.

I mean how can you explain his bloody mouth in his mug shot unless she bit first and he hit in response?

Does it make since that he hit her first and THEN she decided it was safe and wise to get close enough to kiss him and then bite him?

Common sense says it happened the other way around - in which it case it was simple self defense on his part and in fact he could sue HER for assault. Indeed his tongue is a very important part of his livelihood as a TV pitchman and she might have damaged his ability to make a living.

OK- you're an engineer- how much force does it require to inflict facial fractures? And what's that contusion on her nose? How'd she get the blood in her hair? (my bet- bloody nose).

He didn't do that to her while his tongue was in her mouth. He laid back popped her with roundhouse a right. Maybe two.

59. Um no it really doesn't take that much to break someone's cheek
or nose and he seems like a pretty big guy and she seems to be rather petite so yes I could see it.

He struck her with a jab from his right fist into her right eye and it continued across her nose. The blood could be his or hers or both... hard to say.

If he was free and clear and had some room he would have hit her lower in the jaw or square on the nose. Her marks are all higher up. These hits seem consistent with a person striking from the side from very close in to me.

He can't hit the side of her head with nearly enough force from that position. That abrasion and swelling on the left- now that's consistent with his description of the struggle.

Even if you don't have two for the "proper reinactioment," LOL -you still try the angle for yourself.

67. You need to give it because you really don't have a clue
I'm a reasonable juror who has been a juror before on a big cocaine trial and that is my conclusion and in fact several people here tonight have concluded it also.

is right here in front of their own face.

What a coke trial has to do with anything- I haven't a clue.

72. You're right there is no point in arguing with you because you are choosing to ignore the obvious
evidence in front of your face.

The point is that a judge a prosecutor and defense attorneys considered me a reasonable juror and picked me to sit on their case and I've been through the process and know what is expected of a juror.

75. That's not what makes a reasonable juror
then again, you'd have to have been on the other side of the bar, so to to speak, to understand how that works.

But not to digress- you go on rationalizing the ridiculous. Meanwhile, if I'm Vince's counsel, my advice is pony up and make this go away- quietly.

He looks like his tongue is screwed up.

What a pair of losers, IMO. They're both assholes. Looks like a match made in heaven.

5. They both suck
Biting his tongue and refusing to let go was a bit anti-social as well. Of course, a more appropriate countermeasure would have been to simply pinch her nostrils shut until she let go, but Vince Shlomo doesn't seem all that bright.

28. Depends on where in Miami Beach but absolutely yes...
Art Deco places like the Tides on Ocean Blvd are extremely expensive. What hotel was it in by the way?

31. I'm not slamming the hotel, but any number of such arrangements
are made in more modest inns across the world, seems like.

For all the more pleasure these two got out of their evening, I'm thinking a Super 8 would have sufficed for well under $100.

41. No Super 8's nearby on South Beach...it's pretty high rent
and consider that he's someone who probably has a lot of money to spend and didn't want to go to a dump motel. Although it begs the question, why does he need to pick up hookers?

50. When I lived in South Florida I used to go out to Ocean Drive probably 8 or 10 times a year
and I've been a few more times since moving to Orlando...

I've never stayed in the hotels though because they are ridiculously expensive. The clubs are pretty pricey but not totally unaffordable.

51. I've been there just a few times but the thing that stuck with me most
was the drive cross the causeway from the barrier strand into Miami at night.

It seemed to put Miami in a whole new light as a dazzling, cosmopolitan city. I was very impressed.

53. It really is a really cool place to live... I often wish I still lived down there.
Last fall I was working back down there temporarily but only made it down to Miami twice in the three months I was there because I was too busy (I spent two weeks in England out of the 12 weeks on the job).

Right now I'm unemployed again but I'm still looking at jobs located down there if any open up.

68. Well here's hoping it happens, and that it happens as close to your
best terms as possible.

I'm often jealous of people who live in Florida, especially in the summertime, when the skies fill with thunderclouds in the afternoon. It's very beautiful there in summer. The sky especially. And all the snowbirds have vacated and the beaches aren't as crowded.

Good luck on the assignment. I hope it comes through for you.

70. Hunker down for those. I saw the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew
and got a powerful impresson of what a storm like that can do.

It's interesting how both the hurricane that eventually wiped out Galveston and Katrina both crossed over Florida. It's true -- hurricanes rumble through there now and again, and sometimes they really mean business.

I've seen the photos of Flagler's railroad through the Keys before the 1935 storm, and then after. Whoa.

52. Anything that will get her off the Kaley Anthony story..
I live in Orlando and I'm sooo sick of her pontificating... she did this about another case like this out of Orlando a few years back until the mom who was the suspect committed suicide and they were never able to solve it after that. I find her self righteous, self serving and anything but impartial in these cases - she always assumes the suspect is guilty and has had to take that back and eat crow a couple of times but she never really apologizes for trying suspects in the media or getting the facts wrong (that Alabama girl that got killed in the islands for instances...)

I really can't stand her and wish CNN would pull her show. CNN used to have real news on it until they adopted the tabloid trash model.

54. Agree. Nancy Grace aims for the lowest common denominator in a story and
hits it every time.

Easily among the worst programs in television history.

I hope someone with some clout at CNN is lurking here tonight and reads your post. They should follow your advice and yank the show.

This whole thing is wrong- both parties broke the law here.

Judge not lest ye be judged- no one here was there. Let it go- it's insignificant in the long run.

Five years from now you will not remember this.

87. This should be simple....
... but I can't find the FACTs anywhere.

Did this guy have bite lacerations on his tongue? The shape of said lacerations would indicate whether he did it ) or she did it (.

If she did it, case dismissed. If not, charges. See how easy it is with FACTS?
