6. Unfortunately, his picture emits a drift causing me to think I'd better check the
bottom of my shoe.

2. Joe for President
Or, if Steele gets the boot, Joe should be the head of the GOPigs.

He's even got a bit of that porcine look down, sort of like a :::: gasp :::: young Rush.

9. Matt Taibbi has done the unthinkable- namely, gotten me to start buying Rolling Stone
for the first time since the late 1980s.

10. I bought a couple of his books -
collections of his essays. They are wonderful. He's inspired, and when he lets it rip, there's no one better these days.

18. Fuck that noise.
If the GOP continues to be the champion of the clueless bastard, then there's very little pressure for the Democrats to govern effectively. They need only use "hey, at least we're not as bad as that dumbass" as their campaign slogan and they win elections without bothering to tackle our nation's problems. Or worse yet, they lose and we get stuck being led by total idiots. (Read newspapers from the last eight years if you've forgotten how that works.)

We'd be much better off if the GOP ditched the knuckledraggers and the extremist ideologues and moved towards becoming a mainstream party which had its own set of ideas for promoting good government. Granted, this would be a slow evolution, but our nation's progress will continue to crawl at a turtle's pace when one of the two major parties is institutionalized wingnuttery.

In other words, when the GOP is the party of Joe the Plumber we're either faced with the unpleasant scenario of a one party state, or the even scarier scenario of a far right party being competitive in elections and taking power.
