When will Meghan McCain become a Democrat?
Edited on Tue Mar-17-09 09:41 AM by Serial Mom
She blogs and trys to tell repukes that they cannot continue on their negative course, that they must become more moderate and how to they respond?

That she's fat! Typical!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29728604/

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Republican Senator John McCain, blasted conservative radio host Laura Ingraham Monday after the commentator compared her to a plus-size model.

"The significant majority of my readers are young women," the younger McCain, a blogger for the Daily Beast said on The View Monday. "What do young women think when I speak my mind about politics and I want to have a political discussion about the ideological future of the Republican Party and the answer is, 'She's fat, she shouldn't have an opinion.' "

2. This isn't really all that unusual
lots of times the children of conservatives are more liberal themselves. Look at Reagan and Nancy's two.

15. hell, according to conservatives, the parents are the main influence that
cause their kids to go bad ...

like Dick Cheney's daughter ...

or Sarah Palin's daughter ...

wait ... there's a problem with that logic ...

7. Hate the candidate, but not the kid!
Nasty, nasty! She is trying to change the repukes and isn't change better for all of us? Wouldn't it be better to have elections in the framework Obama has set - to live up to certain standards and discuss issues and not personal appearance or life styles?

4. Never. She's the new face of the GOP.
Her, Bobby Jindal, Michael Steele...and there will be others.

What you won't be seeing is a lot of old white men. They're not doing too well in the spokesperson department.

5. I Think She Personifies The Problems That The Repug Party & The Conservative Movement.....
will have going forward to sustain themselves. They don't have a good platform - and thinking people - particularly the young are beginning to question them and are beginning to move toward middle ground. With her influence - she can bring a lot of new youth to the middle.

6. eh
I'm not really impressed by this supposed "fight". I mean, more power to Meghan for "speaking out", but this is exactly what she wanted, to start a fight with a rabid conservative person for publicity (not the weight stuff, but just in general. NO one deserves to be made fun of for their weight). Big whoop. Meghan needs to substance to her "political discussion" for me to be impressed, because she seems really vague to me on what she's arguing other than "rabid conservatives need to use less harsh rhetoric". I don't really see her aruging anything other than that. That said, Ingraham can shut the fuck up.

9. True, but it wasn't her political stance I talked about
It's the issue that people cannot get past the appearance or life style of others when it should only be about issues!

Of course I agree on that. I wish that Meghan WOULD talk about specific issues that she disagrees with Republicans on. The first article (about Anne Coulter) was mostly about rhetoric, and this seems to be too. It's good for her to point out that these people DON'T want to talk about issues/have a discussion, but I hope Meghan is able to move the discussion to the next level and pick out certain issues (I read that she's more socially liberal) that the conservative base clings to and explain WHY they should expand beyond that. Sorry, I just don't find her that impressive. But of course, she is way more likeable than Ingraham.

8. She already is, she just doesn't know it yet.
I was a passive Republican like my parents until my first year of college when the switch was flipped.

10. Um - you ever seen her daddy throw a temper tantrum?
I would guess fear of that would stop her if nothing else did.

19. I don't particularly want her to become a Democrat.
In that interview from Rachel Maddow she came across as inarticulate and spoiled. Maddow - now there's someone I want as a Democrat!
