A Fun Look At Glenn Beck's 9 Principles (Help Me Come Up With Something For # 9!)
NOTE: I was inspired to throw this together this after reading the latest .

Do You Agree With Glenn Beck's 9 Principles?

Proving that he really is (misspelling is on purpose for future reference), Glenn Beck started a project called .

You can read about it , watch it and there's . Basically he's trying to fire up and empower conservatives by telling them that they're not powerless. No, not only are they not powerless, but they actually "surround" those in power!

He compares the , er, I mean the Liberal Elite(TM) that *seem* to hold all the power to the Wizard Of Oz, a pathetic weakling hiding behind a curtain that's tricked us into thinking he's in control. But now Beck wants to pull back the curtain and show us who's really in charge!

In order to see if you're on the same page as Beck, look at his 9 Principles below. According to Beck you need to agree with at least 7 (NOTE: I added links to 8 of the 9 the principles. If you have a good one for # 9 or any others, please post them.):

1. .

2. . (I know, some would prefer )

3. I must always try to be than I was yesterday.

4. . My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and .

6. I have , liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

PS---If you agree with at least 7 of the 9, Beck wants you to send a picture of yourself to include in his . As you can see it's very diverse! ;)

2. Conservatives spouting principles like 3, 5, 8 & 9 are laughable
Technically so is 4 when you consider how much sex repression that comes out via hookers and bathroom sex there is in the GOP.

7. If that was the case you could've mixed it up a little.
You know, at least tried *a little*.

10. I'm pretty sure diversity falls under "them."
And they don't want that in their little wacko club.

Sorry about that.

4. I agree with most of those
Actually all, although 7 doesn't really make sense because paying taxes isn't charitable giving, it's mostly for essential services, programs and for running the military, so that's a weird way for it to be put, but, I guess I have to consider the source.

Almost as a rule, Republicans wouldn't honestly believe in those principles, their hypocrisy is limitless.

However I'd add a #10: Beck is as batshit nuts as the other wingnuts.

12. Well...
1.I believe in puppies and sunshine.

2.My beliefs don't matter unless I use them as an excuse to steal, abuse, or murder you.

3.I thought I did pretty good yesterday and doubt I'll achieve perfection. You seem overly sure improvement has plenty of room to occur.

4.Tell it to the Manson family. Interpersonal relationships are either healthy or unhealthy.

5.Merely beyond the law as proved by Watergate, Iran-Contra, and Torture. Oh yeah-and Republican administrations.

6.Obviously. You extol that "Christ was crucified" for the sins of others then get pissed that Scooter Libby after being convicted of felonies only gets his sentence commuted instead of a full pardon.

7.I've seen the net tax rates. Apparently they can't even force you to be equitable.

8.No, the un-American part is to threaten coups and secession after a legal election happens and you dislike what democracy decided.

9.They certainly did for 28 to 40 years depending on who's account. Whom they answer to may now be changing. Live with it. Or don't. But please stop the bullshit victimistic whining.

17. #4 and #5 are in conflict.
Fer instance, some of Beck's fellow Mormons prefer multiple wives which is against the law. The choose to follow the 4th principle in defiance of the 5th.

26. My responses.
"1. America is good."
Define "good." What unselfish act have we done that is proportional to our capacity to help others?

"2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life. (I know, some would prefer this)"
Explains why he's such an asshole. While I know a lot of genuinely decent religious people, every asshole I have ever known and every child molester I have ever prosecuted were vocal Christians. Anyway, this statement is essentially a rejection of modernity in favor of medieval values.

"3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday."
In that case there will be no end to Beck's improvement since he is an absolute liar to the point of faking an emotional reaction right now.

"4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government."
Sacred is a meaningless term. By that logic, he should support gay marriage and adoption since that will increase the number of families. His remark about authority is egomaniacal. It is also a rejection of modern civil society in favor of bronze-age tribalism.

"5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it."
Seems to contradict #4. Anyway, this apparently does not apply to Republican members of Congress or presidential administrations. Clinton was impeached for a blow job, yet Bush allows his rich friends to loot the economy and starts a war based on a lie, violates domestic spying laws and commits acts of torture and no one seems to give a shit except for a few outspoken pro-justice advocates.

"6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results."
There is no guarantee of life or libery either. If he thinks these are rights, then I suppose he supports national healthcare, scientific medical research and legal reforms that will decriminalize victimless crimes. While there can never be absolute equality, making sure the worst off at least eat regularly and sleep indoors is a pretty modest goal.

"7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable."
Glenn Beck does not work hard. A farmer works hard. A construction worker works hard. Beck is paid to talk and even if he has long tiring days, they do not amount to "hard work." As far as government enforcing charity, I refer the reader to the 16th Amendment as well as to the broad taxing powers of states.

"8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion."
Unless the authority is a Republican president. And if there is no reasonable basis for criticism, he will feel free to make shit up just like the rest of the Foxperts.

"9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me."
Again, unless it is a Republic president. What Beck apparently doesn't get here is that there are 300 million other people who can make the exact same claim and the fact that most of them disagree with him has apparently slipped his notice.
