So I went to the store today, and I see the cover of the National Enquirer
and they just can't give Patrick Swayze any peace. I know they do a lot of 'good' exposing Rethugs, but I am seriously angry about them hounding him. The guy is dying, and they make him their front cover. Scumbags.

1. What's wrong with making him their front cover? He doesn't have much time left. (nt)

2. When you see it, tell me you approve
Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 06:05 PM by DainBramaged
It was a paparazzi photo shot of him coming from chemo, and if you think it's OK to do this, then we aren't OK.

17. I hope people remember him from his healthy days and not during these hard times.
While the pictures aren't pretty, this is news.

3. Are you defending the National Enquirer?
They are the paparazzi who, for example, literally chased Princess Diana to her death and who will do anything to get smut of any kind on celebrities.

26. Sad thing is, the paparazzi have probably gotten even worse....
since Princess Diana died. A lot of the tabloids weren't as celebrity focused until more recent years. I remember the National Enquirer used to have a lot of "half boy/half bat" type stories. Many of the gossip blogs weren't around until around 2005ish. So the demand for paparazzi pictures is even higher now.

5. The problem I have with it is that they are vultures.
Same w John Kennedy Jr. They just make more money when they have certain faces on the cover, and will stoop to any depth to use another's personal tragedy for their gain. I have no respect and no appreciation for their work, especially since they make shit up constantly. When is Obama going to be shown growing horns? Honestly. They are evil.

25. They are vultures but people want to see and read about celebrities
There should be limits placed on the paparazzi to prevent them from doing things like chasing people down while hanging out of their car trying to get a picture. They could be stopped from entering private property. But if the celebrity is in public place, there's nothing that can really stop them...expect for people to stop buying tabloids.

15. Patrick Swayze: I'm Not at 'The End' of Cancer Battle
Patrick Swayze is slamming the National Enquirer and other media outlets for reporting what he calls “inaccurate” details about him nearing “the end” of his battle with cancer.

The actor, 56, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, has continuously tackled the Enquirer and other media outlets for printing what he has dismissed as little more than negative rumors.

On Wednesday, the Enquirer ran several photos of the Ghost actor appearing gaunt on the front cover of the magazine under the headline “The End.”

16. Patrick Swayze: It's Not 'The End' for Me
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20265034,00.html

Reacting to a tabloid story that says he's nearing "The End" (and showing photos of him appearing gaunt), The Beast star is slamming what he calls "inaccurate" reports about his year-plus battle with pancreatic cancer.

Swayze, 56, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement he's continuing with treatment, working on a book and even has a new dog:

"It's amazing to me that the tabloids such as the National Enquirer print such negative stories about me and my health when there are so many positive things going on in my life right now. I've started a new chemotherapy and, once again, I am one of the lucky ones with pancreatic cancer that is responding well to the treatment.

There is a brand new, 12-week-old, Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy named Kumasai in my life who is gorgeous and already showing that he will be one special dog.

"I am starting work on my new book, in addition to enjoying the fantastic response from everyone on my A&E series The Beast.

"I hope in the future, the press will think twice about printing inaccuracies and painting an unpleasant picture when I have so much to be thankful for at this time

18. Horrible disease but hope for the best
Pancreatic cancer is a horrible disease. My father died from it because it was diagnosed at a very advanced stage. The pancreas quit making the enzymes necessary to digest food. That's why the patients become so thin.

I wish Patrick and his family the best. I hope that he got diagnosed early and that his surgery was successful.

21. Chemical Link?
My BIL also died from pancreatic cancer at a young age. He was an chemical engineer who worked in the petrochemical industry. His employer didn't pull anything with him because of potential liability.

Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 09:24 PM by cooolandrew
they probably have a large part to play in increased cancers. Gentically combining pesticide into food sounds a pretty crumby idea to me. Whatever the world can do to put the corporation into line, would do us all a world of good. Buying organic is the best shot or eating more potatos that don't require or need little need for any pesticides. Besides eating more potatoes is more eco friendly as rearing cows is energy intensive. With less cows there is and abundance of more room to grow potatos and a certain increase in food supply SWEET PATATO PIE. I wouldn't give up all meat but whatever assists lightening the carbon boot stam can't be bad.
