...that does goodhair in. He is on shaky ground since the Trans Texas Corridor collapsed. Looks like Kay Bailey Hutchinson may take him down next time around.

9. Done. Is Montgomery County very red? I'm surprised at the
people who actually think this is a good idea, though I'm heartened to see they're losing.

15. Very red.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montgomery_County,_Texas#Politics
"Montgomery County is one of the most heavily Republican counties in Texas, giving 76% of its vote to John McCain in 2008. The county has not been won by any Democratic presidential candidate since 1964, and was one of the few counties in Texas to be won by segregationist candidate George Wallace in 1968.<2>"

went fairly liberal. I was hoping some had rubbed off. x(

12. This way he'll pass the GOP purity test for his run against Kay Bailey next year...
...the Legislature will overrule him, unemployment will be funded, and he gets to claim they took that nasty socialist Obamoney over his objections.

Several GOP governors will go this route.

19. Can't believe he's running for a third term.
We need to vote Kay in 2010 and be done with him. No wonder his mansion got burned down.

To make an already unscientific poll more unscientific?

it won't pass. moron perry failed on trying to stop Texas's portion of the stimulus package and he will fail on this as well.

the texas governor is an inherently weak position. It's the lt governor and the congress that hold all the cards.

it's just more bullshit and bluster by the pea brained perry.

31. No, it's to show that we are still alive and kicking
You can't give the camel rethugs one inch into the tent. These people will take any lack of participation as a sigm of weakness. So we have to continue to make a showing of strength.

And overnight, they've inched ahead. And we at DU have a chance to show this red county paper what we are made of.

22. i did it
what state is this? texas? :) the poll is looking somewhat more realistic at this point. but i don't get anybody being against unemployed people receiving the means to survive. i'm disheartened by the heartlessness in this country. 53 years old and i still struggle to "get" that a lot of people are greedy and really do not give a rat's ass about anyone but themselves and their own. they just do not care. nor do they ever consider that there but for fortune...

36. Update for strategy
This came in an email from the Montgomery County Democratic Party:

With all your help we led the Conroe Courier poll by as much as 70% until Friday evening. We are now at 42%, and loosing the poll to the Perry supporting Republicans.

If your like me, I think Perry has put himself out on a limb on this issue, and I want to cut it off. He will be less likely to visit Montgomery County in the 2006 election, and less likely to help his Republican friends if we clearly show Montgomery County does not support him.
