Jim Cramer: An Urban Legend In His Own Mind
Edited on Fri Mar-13-09 10:23 AM by rocktivity
The past week shouldn't have happened, Jim Cramer--NONE of it.

Good morning, Cramer--or should I say, good morning after? How's your Daily Show hangover? Head still pounding? Vision still blurry? Ass still whupped? You betcha. And what should be hurting you most is that NONE OF IT HAD TO HAPPEN. None of it! Zero. Zilch. Bupkis.

You accused TDS of creating an "urban legend" by playing video of you recommending the buying of Bear Stearns stock. Actually, the clip showed you telling a viewer NOT TO SELL Bears Stearns stock because it was fine. In other words, your urban legend about TDS was an urban legend. THAT'S why TDS host Jon Stewart smote you--but it's not HIS fault that YOU handed him an arsenal of weapons he could smite you with.

If only you HADN'T actually recommended buying Bear Stearns weeks earlier. If only there HADN'T been footage of you bragging about how you manipulated your hedge fund. If only you HADN'T recommended holding on to Bear Stearns stock days before the company collapsed. And if only you hadn't accused TDS of doing something it obviously didn't do.

Unlike that coward Rick Santelli, you were willing to boldly go forth and confront Stewart on his own turf--but not before racking up sympathy points by peeking out from behind the skirts of your NBC soulmates (including Martha Stewart, who has a history of financial shennanigans of her own--MEGA bad move). You should have invested that time in getting that hedge fund video off YouTube. If you didn't know that it had spread across the internet like a wildfire, you should have. You seemed absolutely stunned that Jon would play it, either because you DIDN'T know about it, or you didn't think that he would stoop THAT low. I therefore doubt it when you say you're a fan of the show.

Yep, you sure showed up Rick Santelli and defended CNBC's honor. But between trying to invoke the name of Bernie Madoff and whining that CEOs had lied to you, it's no wonder that your voice cracked a couple of times. But Santelli now has something that you don't--a chance of maintaining some credibility and protecting whatever ethical skeletons he might have. Meanwhile, where do YOU go from here? Hopefully, the way of that CNN show which got canceled after Jon accused it of pretty much the same things he accused you of. And you'd have no one to blame but yourself because NONE OF IT HAD TO HAPPEN. Zero. Zilch. Bupkis.

3. these people like him can say whatever they want,
be held as some kind of financial "geniuses" and not have to suffer the consequences of their lies and b.s. Stewart was the first one in the media to do that - to hold someone acountable to his face. Like you said, it didn't have to be like this.

4. Wouldn't it be great if Cramer reformed?

In some storybook universe, Cramer has an epiphany during his TDS evisceration (no mean trick), a road-to-Damascus moment when he realizes his whole life has been off course and the moment to get good with God is right now.

He throws away the "Mad Money" buttonbox and changes the name of the show to "The Real World Of Business". Every program features a Shuster-style Hypocrisy Watch directed at business titans and corporate "journalists". He actually uses his knowledge, energy, and charisma to present a show that becomes a must-see for thinking people across the political spectrum. Cramer statues appear in the parks, parades are scheduled.

And then, of course, CNBC fires him.

9. Snap. Truth is Arianna was not ever a sociopathic personality like many on Wall Street,
the GOP or right wing democrats.

8. What Cramer forgot
1. If you don't have a competitive advantage -- don't compete!

2. They have you on tape -- so you can't fudge what you said.

3. Stewart had nothing to lose (he's a comedian) and Cramer had everything to lose (he passes himself off as an expert).

If Cramer and CNBC had just ignored the whole thing from the beginning, it would have blown over by now and 90 percent of Cramer's viewers would never have seen or heard of it.

10. I'm thinking "big picture." Cramer volunteered to PLAY the CONTRITE "fall guy" for the Corporations
Here we are all "feeling sorry" for him when, in essence, it was ALL FOR SHOW in order to get THE BIG BOYS AND GIRLS off of the hook with us lowly unwashed masses.

I'm still betting on "Epic Fail" because us little people are not as stupid or as distracted as the power elite is betting on.

Doubt me? Watch their insane spin each and every damn day ... they truly need a financial EXORCISM because it's NOT working.
