It really does no one any good unless someone is ready and willing to help those out who battle any of these personal issues.

20. While it's generally bad form, there's something going on with Rush

Rush's weight gain looks to be related to his drug addiction. And what sympathy I might ordinarily feel toward a drug-addicted, overweight, almost-deaf person is pretty small given his mindset. On the list of things to criticize him for, it's a minor point, and certainly not one that will bear flogging in decent company. But it is there, and it only adds to the image of the pill-popping, gluttonous, hypocritical gasbag. A rich man - so rich and sated that he's almost physically bursting at his seams - lectures us that the poor are to blame for our problems. He's the living embodiment of the Banker from Monopoly. I'm sorry, but I think his obesity is a point of valid criticism. However, I don't think it helps to just toss off a "Rush is fat!" without explaining its relevance. It's another small sign of a warped personality that tosses off maxims and critiques of all the people who don't measure up to this twisted bastard's ideals.

And yes, his weight gain is probably related to oxy, but he's battled his weight for ever and a day.

There is so much to go after him, such as his ideology, that we can really leave that alone.

Just my two cents

Hell if anything him and oprah symbolize the difficulty in maintaining a healthier weight for many folks who go on traditional diets

I just pass these posts by. If it is Rush then why put everyone who is over weight in the same boat? I'm not saying it is because of rush but if so just how does this reflect on people who just hate Rush if they are over weight?

Rush is a freak that there is no comparision to. And children who's parents cannot afford a lunch should not be put out there as if it's a fault.

When I was a kid in public schools in the early 50's in StPete FL we got peanut butter and bread sandwiches and a small carton of milk since at the time my parents were not doing well and it was something that stays with me today. Now it's 2009 and one would think we would have progressed but I guess not. In fact I can see we have not.

I don't have children so I'm not in that position now but it's not like I have much to eat but enough to stay alive. We really did not have fast food and easy access back then. I don't eat fast food now either. But that does not say it's a reason people are over weight.
