There are folks in my town who don't want to take stimulus $ for
a public safety building because they hate the cops and the firefighters and, most of all, they hate Obama. One of them told me that he gets his public safety from his M16 and that it's just the luck of the draw if a house burns down (as long as it's not his I guess). I think I'm going to have a rocky couple of months with this. These are the free staters and the fundies and they are hell bent to ruin everything for everybody to make some sick twisted point.

Just vent/ranting.

1. Next time you see this person walking on a sidewalk,
tell him to stop using Government property, since he doesn't believe in Government.

11. You don't have public water?
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 08:56 PM by Veritas_et_Aequitas
Even horribly unstable villages in Africa have public water of some sort. In what bizzaro part of our Republic do you live?

Ohhhhhhh... New Hampshire. Sorry. I'm afraid to think what will happen in your town once your state goes blue completely.

You're more than welcome to crash in Massachusetts. Sure we have property taxes and fireworks are illegal, but we have gay marriage and health care.

Wait a minute... there are towns in NEW HAMPSHIRE that don't have public water? WTF?

Edited after I checked your profile.

16. There's no sales tax in NH, right?
I think of it as a very low tax state, very independent people. Am I right? How do they do sewers?

8. I suppose that if someone were threatening me with an M16
I'd be inclined to listen, too.

Try asking them why they hate America. Then again, don't. You might get shot.

17. And they never use public roads, nor do they want a military or use the post office, oviously
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 01:21 AM by GreenTea
they never use the library, how about the courts & jails, do they like the annual $4.4 billion republicans in congress receive each year for pay, benefits travel & staffing? Nor air traffic controllers, nor maintaining our national parks & water ways...do they grow all their own food and make their own medicine too, so they don't need FDA inspectors...And I'm sure they don't except a dime of Social Security or medicare....No need for regulators of banks either...because bailouts are fine?

19. Typical thinking of poor, rural people.
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 01:40 PM by Cleita
I know how Raven feels. I had to put up with the same mentality in Idaho when I lived there. It was best not to be too political and keep your liberal thoughts to yourself. The locals still maintain the same line of thinking that their ancestors did in the nineteenth century. A lot of them won't accept Social Security or Medicare. They consider it welfare and will sometimes die without medical care before they will ask for help from anyone except maybe a neighbor or a fellow church member.

9. What, do they want anarchy?
Because that's what would happen if people didn't believe in government.

18. Since I'm a little familiar with...
libertarianism, they are anything but anarchists.

Limiting federal government intervention to the constraints of the Constitution (as they see it, of course) is their principle rallying call.

But it's far from anarchism.

Unless, of course, you want to look at the left libertarians.

Who are closer to anarchists than the domestic kind that we have here.

12. Yes, anarchy and then they would take over. I'm serious... this
is my little corner of the world but this is what we, as a nation, need to deal with.

15. Wow. What a fun place you live in.
Tell them not to worry. Arnold has offered to take it off their hands. Oh, they still will have to pay taxes for it though.
