Who owns your bank?
I recently discovered that my bank is traded on NASDAQ. The largest bank in my town is traded on the NYSE. I try to support local businesses and local control. Upon learning that my bank is owned by whoever buys stock on NASDAQ, I took my next pay check and opened an account at a community credit union. I'm going to gradually take my money out of the bank, letting any current checks clear, changing direct pay accounts, that sort of thing. With the trouble with banks, I feel kind of bad pulling my money. But I am keeping my resources in the community.

And there are lots of advantages in dealing with a credit union. They offered me a credit card with a pretty low fixed rate, that won't change. I accepted the offer. It's issued by the CU, not by a big national bank. I had actually been turned down for some reason about a year ago by another credit card. The lady at the CU checked my credit while I was sitting right there, and said it looked fine. Said I'd have no problem getting any services offered by the CU--a car loan when I need it, etc.

So, I'm glad I'm dealing with a locally owned business, of which I am a part owner.

I'm glad I found out who owned my bank.

2. I belong to a credit union.
I have a stash of money at a regional bank, not a lot, that I keep there so I have a place where I can go cash a credit union check!

3. The depositers.
Like you are now, I am with a local credit union and have been for over 25 years. I wouldn't have it any other way.

:fistbump:

5. I too belong to a credit union.
I switched my business account about 8 years ago, and then switched my personnel account from BOA about 4 years ago. I am very happy with my credit union. I have had no problem with care loans, and get a pretty good rate from them.

6. I thought it was a small regonal bank but I checked.
It is owned by an international banking conglomerate called BBVA based in Spain. I think I am moving my money too.
