No matter what the reason (public won't let them, political cost too high, etc)

1. They can't get anything done...........
They are lost and split between taking lobbyist money and doing the right thing for the American people. We lose every time!

4. I agree with you also.
Until we get rid of the lobbyist money in congress, things aren't going to change! We elect new members of congress who have some great ideas, and plans to change things, but the leadership on both sides of the isle, are in the pockets of big corporations. If we can't change the leadership we can't change the problems, and as long as all the money flows freely, nothing will really change.

5. They have no INCENTIVE to change.

They still receive your support as the lesser evil of the two anyway.

Why should they change, if they're going to get your vote even if they don't?

You have to give them a motivation to change.

By withholding your support until they've earned it.

Why is that such a novel concept to some of us?

It's a tool of effective parenting for many parents.

You spoil the Democrats by giving them something that they want but haven't earned.

They need to earn it.

And you need to be able to say no until they do.

6. Your argument looks good on paper, but,
if all of us withheld our votes until we got the kind of candidates we wanted, you could well be looking forward to four years of President McCain & Vice President Palin. They still got 46% of the vote! 46% of the voting population thought those two morans were capable of running the country.

Damn straight I voted for the lesser of two evils!
