4. I'm watching to see what Feinstein does in California. If she
makes the run, she'll prevail for the nom and mostly likely will win the general.

In New York, I think the sharks have picked up the scent of blood around David Paterson and are swiftly converging. If Andrew Cuomo knows he can knock off Paterson for the nomination, Giuliani is not likely to run for the Pukes.

13. Feinstein will never run for governor
She has her seniority in the Senate and won't give it up until she is rady to retire. Not to mention the fact that she doesn't want to take on CA's current troubles. Besides she was just reelected to her nice safe seat in the Senate.

Personally, I wish she would just go away.

17. She is well-positioned in the Senate, true.
The polling in California has been including her in the list of potential contenders, and she's coming out very well positioned to step down and grab the governor's chair.

My first impulse is that she will stay right where she is.

But I'm often wrong on Feinstein, so you just can't go by me.

6. I'm betting with your take, Historic NY.
Paterson seemed to be doing well for a while but the Senate appointment dragged on for way too long and was evidently bungled pretty badly.

A lot of folks just aren't real happy, by the reports.

Andrew Cuomo, I'm thinking, is already well down his list of people to call.

5. I'd certainly take either over Feinstein.
On the other hand, it would be terrific to have a more reliably progressive vote in the Senate if Feinstein stepped aside to run for governor.

Things could get real interesting real quick out in California.

15. Hey - I really don't care what goes on in the personal lives of my leaders
JFK slept with Marilyn Monroe. So did RFK.

But they were great leaders.

Rockstars of their craft.

So is Gavin.

7. I wouldn't mind John Garamendi our present Lt. Governor.
As a matter of fact, I wish Arnold would resign or get recalled, impeached, or whatever and that John be sworn in to finish his term.

It's time to get someone with experience in California public service to clean up Arnold's mess.

10. I'm not ruling Garamendi out. He's aiming hard and true for the
job and may turn out to be a formidable opponent in the primaries.

11. He's been running for the last two years.
I don't have a problem w/ a sound environmentalist sitting in Sacramento. Certainly would be a BIG improvement over the current thick headed, clueless bumbler.

12. Agreed. I like Arnold's wife a whole lot better than I like Arnold.
California -- especially California -- could use some inspired land husbandry from the Governor's chair.

14. My only prediction in that regard is we'll have a DEM governor.
Thank goodness.

16. Yes. That would be an agreeable outcome.
The Republicans have dug deep into their bag of dark mischief to turn NY and CA red in recent years. They've had some success at the battle level but appear to have lost serious ground at the war level.

In the election this past November, there was never any doubt that Obama was going to sweep both states by very significant margins. If the Pukes can't unlock our blue electoral advantage in NY and CA, they really will fall into a deeper regional-party hole.

Which is just fine with me. Let's hope it's a very, very deep hole indeed.
