They were against it before they even saw it?? republicans take ignorant to a whole new level
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Even before President Obama unveiled his home foreclosure plan Wednesday afternoon, some Republicans and political commentators questioned how exactly it would work to stave off a crisis plaguing the country.
President Obama's $75 billion home foreclosure plan would benefit 9 million borrowers.

President Obama's $75 billion home foreclosure plan would benefit 9 million borrowers.

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor, R-Virginia, along with Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, sent a letter Wednesday to the president "seeking clarification on six important questions about broad housing proposal," according to a press release from Cantor's office.

Obama unveiled his $75 billion multipronged plan in Phoenix, Arizona, that seeks to help up to 9 million borrowers suffering from falling home prices and unaffordable monthly payments. The long-awaited foreclosure fix marks a sharp departure from the Bush administration, which relied mainly on having servicers voluntarily modify troubled mortgages.

Is this the same group complaining about how they did not get to read the stimulus bill, and now are questioning another plan before they get it??? Seems to me these guys can't figure what they want..

1. So they'll all vote against it, then they'll get in line to take advantage of it.
Republicans are shameless.

How about we just start screaming at them that they're unAmerican and hate the troops? Worked for them for the last 8 years.

4. The latest rethug agenda opposes everything BO does.
The assholes actually believe someone will vote for them after their ranks destroyed America with tax cuts to the filthy rich, bogus wars and mortgage fraud.

12. It's all political gambit.
They're completely sunk if the various stimuli work and they know it. It doesn't matter if they vote for it or against it. The only *political* hope they have is to vote against it all and hope it fails. That is the ONLY way the republicans make a comeback.

It doesn't matter what the content is, how good it is, how much it will benefit their constiuency, how good it is for the country as a whole. It's pure political survival at it's basest and worst level.

If the stimuli works and they vote for it the democratic party is the party of change
If the stimuli works and they vote against it the democratic party is the party of change
If the stimuli doesn't work and they vote for it they are complicit in failure
If the stimuli doesn't work and they vote against it they can say "I told you so" and win back some seats

Unfortunately, Binky is a $400/hour whore, but it's worth it for the good of the country, right?

18. that's the whole thing. that's why the whining about bipartisanship is bs.
the republicans have decided that they are against whatever the president and the dems do. no matter what it is. so they go out and complain about it without even knowing what it is. their whole goal is going to be to make it hard for obama to get anything done. they could care less if people lose their jobs or homes or what not. because they will obstruct it and try to blame the dems because it didn't work. that has been their plan from the get go. They need to be called out on it, but the msm isn't going to do it. they are too busy slamming it too. i heard a lot of happy people in that auditorium today. the American people are happy that he is trying to do SOMETHING. anything!! because it's a far cry better than what anyone did before this. They didn't do much of anything . i keep hearing about this $300 billion dollar plan bush put out there to help homeowners before. from what i heard virtually no one got any help through that dog and pony show. I'm not saying i am know for a fact the stimulus bill and this home plan will fix everything.... but it's something. somebody is doing something. for homeowners. not wall street. but the rest of us. and that is the message that i hope the public is getting, not this BS snake oil the republicans and their cohorts on the msm are peddling.

19. They obviously believe their only chance to regain power
in the foreseeable future is to make sure the Obama administration fails.

They only care about acquiring and exercising power. They are out of power. Their ideologies are on the brink of another half century in the wilderness.

That said, some republican governors that are in the line of fire facing real world problems are not so aligned with their ideologue brethren in Congress.

The good news is that right now all that is left of the GOP in my opinion is a coalition of fundamentalists, neocons and supply siders. They kicked real fiscal conservatives, moderate republicans and libertarians to the curb. Some GOPers are trying desperately to reclaim the mantle of fiscal sanity, but after the last 25 years, those claims ring hollow for the party.

The neocons got us into Iraq and now have no credibility. The supply siders and their deregulation got us into this economic mess and now have no credibility. And about the only folks that listen to the fundamentalists are other fundamentalists. Unfortunately the fundies are basically in charge. That's not to say that a fundie will be the standard bearer in the next cycle, but I believe they'll have an even bigger say than they had in '08 because they now are, for all intents and purposes, the anchor of what is left of the party.

That's why the GOP is so pissed off right now. They don't see a way to gain back power unless Obama fails miserably.

20. What they want is to disrupt the democratic agenda, the republicans will NEVER agree with
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 05:36 PM by GreenTea
the Dems on anything, purposely, in order to get lots of self serving radio & television air time to lie and distort the democrats bills & policy.

Republicans philosophy is to say fuck the country and the people, just want to make sure the democrats don't get credit for anything! (the republican 2010 Mantra).

The republicans plan is to get ready to take back congress in the 2010 elections by trashing everything the democrats are trying to do for workers, universal health care, home foreclosures, all because of the republicans policy & agenda of the last eight years, which is never mentioned by them or the MSM. (Just as they did in 1994 when democratic president Clinton was in office).

Republicans telling all that the democratic policies of helping workers don't work and by electing republicans they will have a more fiscal restraint agenda, (which means fuck the worker & social needs), as we've seen with every huge spending republican president & congress the republican rack up gigantic deficits by stealing our treasury for their own corporate & personal greed.

Only the republicans, as we all know, want to spend our tax dollars not to help workers or the people (they never have) but as always, to give that tax money to republicans, themselves, the rich & their corporations....will people fall for it AGAIN!

Many will and will actually vote for that elitist republican ideology with the help of the republican corporate media machine, now in full swing tearing down Dems every chance they get and praising republicans!
