Pay attention and you will see, in broad daylight, the media ass-fucking you
Every repubican teevee creep from the Heritage Foundation and all the other right wing funded think tanks, every 'repubican strategist', every crazy talk show host from every major, secondary, and tertiary market is getting face time. Every whiney congressperson, every hate mongering member of their leadership, every back bencher who serves some district in North Bumfuck with an electorate missing more teeth than the country is missing manufacturing jobs are out there.

And the message is the same.

And they are not muffled.

And they are not balanced.

And they are not challenged.

Meanwhile, from our side ...... nothing. They hold up that moron, Eric Canter, as a hero akin to the vaunted Newt Gingrich for causing EVERY FUCKING REPUBICAN to vote against Obama's jobs bill.

There is no counterbalancing narrative about the left. Instead we hear that GROVER FUCKING NORQUIST is praising the 'united front' being put up by the 'principled' repubicans.

It isn't even so much about the stories or the guests ..... just listen to the words .... the adjectives ..... the heroic terms in which the media casts repubicans.

People, if we don't put some serious pressure on our side to FIX THE FUCKING MEDIA WHILE WE ARE IN CONTROL, we will be well and mightily fucked - perhaps as soon as 2010.

This is a WAR and the media is full throttle out for the right.

The recent Gallup polls are opposite what you see on teevee. But for how long that will last is ??? There was some recent analysis (sorry dont have link) that said there was 2:1 ratio of R vs D on teevee getting the word out.

9. I saw plenty of Dems on the Sunday shows. And our secret weapon
will be all over the place this week. Americans seem to prefer him to the lying bastids. Might not balance out, but won't hurt.

10. Most importantly however, it's not working.
In fact, I'd say it's hurting them.

Just look at the recent polls.

17. Wouldn't it be an interesting world if the news were broadcast that way?
I was thinking the same thing. But the truth is, the media has power that can be misused. And they've done that. In perspective, the title pales to that reality.

15. There are about 500 channels on the TV where I am living now,
and only FSTV has what we might call "the truth" about political, economic and social events.

Are you familiar with Maurice Hinchey's bill?

I regularly write my congress critters, and have written Obama, that media reform and election reform are my top two issues.

19. I am, actually. And I see one hole in it ....... about which i have e-mailed him and others
Media ownership is a bigger issue, in my view, than "The Fairness Act".

But media has changed. Newspapers have very little influence. Local news stations have only little more. The networks are losing market share.

Gaining are the cable news channels. And **that** is where we need to concentrate.

We need to take this VERY seriously or we really will be lost again - maybe as soon as 2010.

The media owners are RELENTLESS and only a fool would think that their profits matter. They could care less about profits, particularly in their cable nooz offerings. Of VASTLY more import for them is successful messaging.

18. I Will Never Understand
Why the Dems don't have better speaking points. It seems the one thing the Repubs do well is "spin." Why aren't we doing that? I know we're smarter than they are, and I know we'll see through the spin but the main stream morons out there may not.

20. My biggest complaint: everything is called a scandal.
A Republican, Judd Gregg puts himself out to the administration and says "I would like to be considered for Commerce Secretary". He is chosen, then backs out when he finds out it involves doing what the president wants. This is called an Obama 'scandal' by CNN. It wasn't a 'scandal' when Rumsfeld was lying to the troops, saying we were getting the up-armored vehicles built "as fast as we can." The next day, the company making the vehicles said "we could increase production by 20% if the Army would just ask us." That was portrayed as 'those mean old, unpatriotic Dems questioning the war president.' It wasn't a 'scandal' when Gonzales testified 75 times that he couldn't remember anything. That was portrayed as 'those mean, old, unpatriotic Dems being partisan'. It wasn't a 'scandal' when tens of billions meant for re-construction disappeared in Iraq. That was 'stuff happens'.

21. It is Very Simple. The Repiggies OWN the Media
Media coverage of Democrats is like this:

Media coverage of Repiglickins is like this:

It isn't a question of having a "good message", it is getting that message on the air when THEY own all the microphones.
