Anyone else find themselves on the GOP mailing list?
For some weird reason I started to get e-mailings from RNC Chair Michael Steele a week or two ago. I'm wondering if this is just a random error or part of some strange campaign to turn doubting Democrats around. I just e-mailed Steele's office and their e-campaign office with this message:

"I am a lifelong progressive/left Democrat (who believes that this country would benefit from some democratic socialist policies especially universal single payer health care) who has been working for quite a while to take our country back from the stupidity and selfishness of your side (and we're only at the beginning of undoing the damage you have done)! I'm on a ton of progressive/left mailing lists. Kind of strange that you decided to add me to your RNC mailing list! What's the gig here? Either you guys are completely deperate and under the illusion that you can turn a few Democrats your way by putting us on your mailing list (pretty unlikely), or this is some sort of stupid psychological thing (trying to psych out the other side), or you have a very messed-up mailing list system! Just wondering."

2. I get them sometimes, by virtue (or lack there of) of where I live.
GOP just assumes everybody in my county is Republican. Sadly, it is almost the case.

I have pondered sending a $5 donation (they ALWAYS ask for $$ and never ask for an opinion) just to keep the mailings coming. Figure $5 will not come close to what it costs them to keep sending me stuff, so I end up being a financial drag to them. AND their mailings give me a heads-up as to upcoming tactics they will all be using. Great fun to have advance notice on their talking-points so I can gather up links, info to send (DO hit REPLY ALL) back to the wing nuts that email crap.

3. Oh, and some evilDUers have posted great ideas for using GOP return postage paid envelopes
My fav was cutting out the return mail address and postage paid permit portion of the envelope and taping it to packages containing a brick or two.

I don't fancy the suggestion of using the envelope to send donations from the family dog. I have too much respect for Postal Workers, who have enough to deal with what with all the bush era cutbacks.

I LOVED emails from RNC when Mehlman was chair. He was so whiny and trite that it was easy to form great rebuttals to the talking points he sent out often. The wingers around my 'hood just gave up trying to talk politics at me.

5. Send them $1
That way it would cost them more to process it than they would make from it.

4. Yeah, I get all their stuff.
I signed up on the RNC website, because they had Kerry's itinerary on their front page and I couldn't find out on his page where he would be. Go figure.
