Credit default swaps.

Clinton's policies.

Phil Gramm.

Clinton's policies.

Bernie Madoff.

Clinton's policies.

Enron.

Clinton's policies.

Reagan's busting of Patco.

..... and last but not least .....

Clinton's policies.

But nowhere do we hear about the costs associated with Bush's off the books financing of his fucking wars.

1. Jon Stewart questioned Sununu about that last night.
Sununu looked at Stewart and changed the subject. The media is at fault for not asking this question - for not beating it to death.

8. I get angry for interviewers nor asking again when a person avoids the subject
Put the damned jerk on the spot and repeat the question.

Everyone knows it's wasted hundreds of billions; it's a given as in geometry.

3. Yo Stinky
I shove it up their ass at every opportunity. (bush's war as a contributor to the debt.) Especially when I hear their latest radio generated and easily remembered yakker "At least bush kept us safe." I tell them yeah, almost as well as Clinton did for a lot less money and Clinton didn't intentionally get thousands of our finest slaughtered in a war because he's a liar. I don't understand why the local yokels (of a conservative bent) even talk to me anymore.

18. Hey Sweetie
One response I used to get from many of the young warmongering gung ho types (20ish) in 2002-2003 when I asked if they had served in the military. "Not yet." Not fucking yet!! As if trained to do so by right wing radio.

6. Wait till all those soldiers come home...and can't find jobs.
Which is likely part of the reason why Afghanistan will finally get a full complement.....

21. The people doing the heavy lifting ARE the guard and reserves.
There are a shitload of them. It's way cheaper for Uncle Sam to mobilize those guys than use the careerists, especially after you've got them in a cycle, where they're trained up and have a decent readiness level. They've been in that cycle for several years now.

Have a look at the article another poster provided on this topic, just below.

Troops would rather face the TALIBAN than the economy...it says something about how dire the job market is.

And here's the truth--while the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act provides for a return to civilian employment after the service requirement is up, if the company has gone bankrupt or the job has been eliminated, the servicemember is fucked.

20. Yep--those reservists don't get their "retirement" straight away, because they haven't
served all of their time on active duty. They've got to wait for it.

9. Because it is bad for all who voted us into war.
There should be a campaign to advertise the war debt and the fact that not one penny has been paid on it. Unfortunately those who voted for the war do not want these numbers discussed.

13. Because Halliburton, KBR, etc. are still hungry
We've got a lot of no-bid contracts to cancel. But they're all overseas, and the stimulus bill is right here. Right along with Nadya the Clown Car, which the MSM is using to distract us from the financial debate on the Hill.

15. The main reson for the collapse now is what it's always been
and nobody's mentioning that, either: the concentration of wealth into the fewest hands possible.

There wouldn't be a mortgage crisis if people were paid enough to pay the damn things off. There wouldn't be such huge outstanding credit card debt if wages had kept pace with inflation, not the liar numbers Greenspan gave out. Financial smart guys wouldn't have had to game the system had money been flowing from the bottom, the way it's supposed to.

Hell, the infrastructure wouldn't be crumbling had the government not been crippled by stupid tax cuts to the point it didn't have the wherewithal to maintain it.

Every single problem in this country can pretty much be traced to wealth concentration, even the wars of empire.

That's the real elephant in the room. The war is just one of the tassels on its howdah.

It would have not been so hard for Dear Leader to fight the 'War On Terror.'
:sarcasm:

Oh wait, they don't like Bush anymore... 'Well you know, there has been a lot of overspending on both sides of the isle.'
