Simple question: Have any of those slimy bankers agreed to give the bonus money back?

Kudos to Barney Frank, the Democratic chairman of the House Financial Services Committee who slam dunked eight banking CEO's today over their greed and use of our taxpayer dollars to line their pockets (and those below them) with lavish bonuses.

They were contrite, apologetic, maybe a little embarrassed. Yet this tax payer wants to know are we going to get any of the 18 billion mis-spent dollars back? We can only hope that there will be civil or criminal prosecutions ahead (see Merrill Lynch bonus-gate); but for now, how about returning our money? The Wyden-Snowe amendment was proposed to recover some of the ill gotten gains, but I have lost track of it's success or passage.

Why the fuck don't I (we) get a cut of that bonus $$$ in the form of a lessor interest rate on my 30 year Countrywide (aka Bank of America) mortgage? At the very least, if we don't get any --- the folks spending our money on yachts and Caribbean junkets need to give it the fuck back!

5. Saw snippets on Countdown/Maddow --- not the whole testimony

And I heard lots of --- oh, sorry, we won't do that again --- and enjoyed a degree of comfort seeing the CEO's called to the table.

Yet I did not hear one person say --- ya know, we screwed up - here is the money back

While working for a dollar a year may sound good, when you factor in stock options and other under the table dealings, I assure you they will still go home every night NOT worrying about making this months bills.

Let em earn lots of money in the private sector, but when they are using our money to play poker while the house is burning down, that arrogance must be stopped.
