There aren't 100 in the Senate now, then what?

2. Republicans would filibuster giving hoses to firemen if it helped them politically.
It's all a game to them.

16. But it wouldn't help them, so why are Dems being so timid?
Democrats have complete control of the government.

WHY THE HELL AREN'T THEY DOING ANYTHING WITH IT?

They could easily roll over the Republicans.

22. If we go into a major depression with Dems holding the WH and Congress, it helps them>
Don't underestimate how misinformed Americans can be. Even if it's clear to all of us that the economy taked further because of Republican obstructionism, most Americans will just look at who is in change and blame them.

I'm convinced that these people are that perverse (which is why I completely agree with you that it's time to roll right over them).

10. I wish they would actually MAKE them filibuster
if that's what they're going to do instead of "Oh, no, they might filibuster. We need 60 votes." They're so wimpy about this stuff.

5. It's 60 to invoke cloture in order to bring it to the floor.
Once that's reached, then it's a simple majority to pass the actual legislation.

I think it's in trouble, and may not get to 60. The Repukes are no longer interested in governing. If they ever actually were these past decades. Now, though, they are in the throes of Rush Limbaugh and his ilk.

Screw bipartisanship. It's DOA.

8. "The Repukes are no longer interested in governing." Someone has to start saying this!
On the floor on the TV!

People have to start repeating this every time the GOP obstructs!

12. I've been getting mixed signals today.
Reid stated today that he had enough votes to make cloture.

Of course, a competent Majority Leader wouldn't bring a necessary bill like this up for a vote unless he already knew how everyone was going to vote...

The big drama is how Snowe and Collins, as well as the Blue Dogs are going to vote today.

I'll throw some Mythbusters type odds out there.

60% chance of the bill making cloture today.

20% chance says Reid yoinks the bill at the last minute, probably because some senator is throwing a hissy-fit and threatening to vote against cloture, and we'll have to wait a few days, maybe a few weeks before they try again.

20% chance that the bill comes to a vote, but fails to make cloture, meaning Reid got totally pwn3d.

11. We need 60, because cloture (agreeing to vote) requires it. If we don't don't get
60 votes for cloture, there is no up or down vote. It is dead.

If R's stick together, they stop the legislation.

A simple majority to pass if allowed to vote.

18. Here's what I think Obama should if these unelected, 'TRADE SECRET' code
voting machine Pukes stop his bill:

1. Take the money out of the Defense and Homeland Security budgets, especially Defense and Homeland Security projects in their home states, by executive order, and

2. Tell them to suck on that.

---------

Remember all the billions and billions in off-budget Defense spending, and black budgets, and 'disappeared' billions? Where is it all? Start there. All the secret budgets. Make it hurt. And DARE THEM to act against a sitting emperor in a time of war!
