2. That's good that wrong was the first answer.
It is my belief that there are not enough people suffering yet to ask for real help. I believe that people with jobs are fully supportive of the President's indicated progress. And you say I don't make any sense. The worst January in the history of the stock market. Multiple states on the verge of bankruptcy. 12,000,000,000 unemployed. I may not make sense to you, but what about the facts?

29. Whatever....Yes, it invalidates what you're saying,
because you said you were basing your question on facts, but presented none. Instead you presented a figure for unemployed people that is absurdly too large.

Did you do it on purpose? I have no idea, but it demonstrates a lack of respect for those reading the thread.

34. Why are you focusing on the Billion number ?
Edited on Tue Feb-03-09 10:25 AM by .... callchet ....
Does it deny 12,000,000 unemployed. Does it deny the worst month ( January ) in the stock market. If I was wrong about it being the worst month instead of only being the worst January does that mitigate anything. I am quoting from news available to me. Does pointing out the 12 billion instead of 12 million make my concerns invalid? Since I have only gotten very minimal support, does that mean these horrible and getting worse conditions don't exist.
Couldn't you concede a mistake intead of an invalidation of my points ? What is your point ?

39. OK, let me run it down for you...
Your original post had zero content. When called on that, you produced a post with a huge, glaring error.

If you want to be taken seriously here, it helps if you think about what you're posting, write it in a clear way, and proofread it before posting.

To start with, you've given President Obama two weeks, and have decided that he's not up to the job. How silly! He doesn't even have his entire cabinet in place yet. He can't solve problems that took years to develop in a couple of weeks.

So, slow down. When you make an original post here, make sure it is well thought-out, composed carefully, and well checked. If you do that, people will respond in a thoughtful way. If you post otherwise, people will respond accordingly, as happened here.

Remember, no post is seen by others until you click the Post Message button. That gives you a chance to spell check, read your post over again to see if you made any glaring errors, and reexamine your post for logic flaws.

There's no hurry. You can take your time.

45. Thank you for taking the time to write that.
My past 30 years ago has been driving around coal mine towns and getting into arguments in bars trying to find out how people felt about labor issues. Dodging federal warrants about organizing strikes and picketing in big cities at office buildings with people who yelled crap at you. We weren't afraid to put our lives on the line for what we thought was right in supporting the UMWA. It is just hard for me when I see to what extent my class has been robbed. I will smooth out ? Try to, yes .

I guess I still don't understand what the heck you're trying to get at.

Maybe you should start over, get specific, and begin an new thread on some specific issue. This thread is going noplace.

What do you do? Are you a union organizer? Lay out your specific problem and start a new thread with a specific question. Generalities don't make for good discussions.

that are the problem?

You ask badly worded questions (almost trollish, but just barely skimming by), you come come across as somewhat screwed up in your posts and then you complain that people are reacting badly to your post.

Here is a clue:

It's not the 20 or so people responding negatively to your post that is the issue.

82. Jeesh...
You are all over the map.

As some other people have pointed out, "worst conditions ever" is quite a stretch. I guess you may have not visited Tijuana (as an example) and seen the filthy little children and crippled old people who dig through the garbage dump for their dinner and for garbage and trashed items to sell. As a person who lives just miles from this sad and pathetic scene I kind of wonder where you are living and from what kind of experience you draw your information?

As for criticizing your style --- I have to say, you sort of asked for it by making your OP so darned unorganized and then using crazy numbers to make a point.

I don't dislike you or want to make you unhappy but when posting a question to thousands of people who will read it - the less ambiguous the better.

I want what is best for the poor people in this country. If you are out of work and suffering, that is a fact. Waiting for more people to be out of

work is not the right thing to do. I got out of labor work thirty years ago because the economy was getting better and people don't care about other

people when they are working. You are fighting an uphill battle when people don't care. I just want people to realize that we are in a bad situation

getting worse , and the President is reacting to the problems of three years ago when he started to run. Do you think he would still have run if he

knew things were going to be this bad when he got in office ?

Keeping threads alive by arguing. Is that because nobody cares about the poor ? And you are right. I don't seem to get much if any support

above $250k. No support for reinstating massive welfare. No support for free childcare. No support for free health care. No support for any social

programs. You are right. I do argue a lot. And it is especially exasperating to have to argue with other democrats about programs for the people.

I am looking at 12,000,000,000 unemployed and growing by 600,000 a month. That is another 7.2 million a year. Any jobs program being talked about now won't even offset the new unemployed and not for another year or more. You that I argue for the sake of arguing. Again, it's another example of not bothering to put your message in a form that shows at least a little respect for your fellow DUers.

Next to the Post message button is one labeled Preview. If you click that, you get to see how your post will appear. If there is no problem, you can just click the Post message button to post it. If there's a problem, you can correct it in a very short time.

You want a discussion of your ideas, I'm guessing. If that's the case, then try to present them in a way that encourages discussion rather than ridicule.

You're making excuses. That is not the answer.

I guess my style is driven my excitement .
If you have a 720 or 740 FICO you don't need help. See, stuff like this infuriates me. Maybe I can't relate it in a subdue way.

3. FICO 740: While 720 is still considered by some to be a solid FICO score, it's not good enough to obtain the best rates in today's refinancing market, says Chris Freemott, president of All American Mortgage in Naperville, Ill. Instead, borrowers will need a FICO score of at least 740. "FICOs are everything," Freemott says. " 740 is the benchmark for the lowest possible rates." Borrowers that don't have this score can still refinance, but they're likely to face higher rates. No help here1. Now seriuosly, am I being cynical or rash. That would help me to understand.

46. Excitement is fine. But it's useless
unless you prepare posts well.

Now, to your FICO thing. President Obama can't suddenly tell lenders that everyone with a FICO over 600 gets the same interest rate. He doesn't have that power.

You're all over the place here. If a person doesn't have a job, there's no loan anyhow, since there's no ability to pay. Jobs, jobs, jobs. That's what we need. You're about four levels too deep into the problem here.

First you start out very generally in your original post and say that Obama's not working fast enough. Now, you're getting very specific about something Obama can do nothing about.

The bottom line is that you give us nothing on which to comment in any meaningful way. Are you trying to get a loan? Is that the issue? Are you out of work? Is that the issue? Is this a personal thing or are you just speaking generally?

Give us some meat and we may be able to slice it up into something edible.

52. I didn't attribute that to Obama.
I was just pointing out that if your score was above 720, you probably wouldn't need or be looking for help. If that was in place in the first place, we wouldn't be in this place.!

54. OK, I can't do this any more.
This thread is done. If you want to start a new one, I'll have a look at it, but no more on this one. It's gone completely off topic.

30. I am scared to death and impatient.
I have friends that work for the county. They feel secure in their jobs because they say people will always need water and sewage. They don't realize that if the tax base deteriorates, they will lose their jobs. There are millions of jobs like that in the United States that don't generate revenue. They are a function of revenue producing jobs that are on the decline.

43. Do you mean he has to add more water to the cake mix?
It should be a two layer cake and the top layer should be white, and the bottom layer should be black.

61. wow, just so much wrong with the op and the rest of this thread.
posing a question based on no information, then using marginal facts to substantiate the OP.

my advice to your want of a "gut reaction", take a step back, formulate your idea, write it out in a clear and intelligent fashion and maybe, MAYBE you will get the response you are obviously fishing for, okay?

in the mean time, step away from the key board, pour the rest of your coffee down the drain and go sit for a while admiring nature.

Than, when you feel fulfilled by natures beauty, then rephrase your question and post it. :)

Peace.
