Do we have a "learning disabilities group"? I ask because my daughter is having
a problem at school (college)she has a diagnosed learning disability and she/we think they are giving her the run around.I would like to ask a few questions of any body who might have a little insight into these kinds of things.

2. The autism/aspberger's forum might be helpful too.

Not that your daughter has that, but many parents and students in that forum are dealing with accomodation for learning disabilities and might be able to give some insight.

My son (aspie) has math disabilities, we've not had to many problems with accomodation, but it's been a long struggle to find the right enviroments and accepting teachers.

Right now, he's getting help with college accomodations thru the state Dept of Rehabilitation.

3. My daughter's is also a math disability. She has an IEP from High school, the
college she is in says.."if you have a diagnosed disability that hinders your academic success please immediately contact...for special accommodation." But now they are saying they don't HAVE to pay any attention to the IEP. She has taken this math course 4 times and has failed it every time. She's so upset now she's thinking of dropping out because unless something gives she won't be able to get her degree any way.

4. Which college is she in?
Is it a CC or a state school?

So far, our CC is pretty accomodating of my son's math disability, but we've only just started him with math over there. I guess we'll have to wait and see. We've had to move him about (from public school to public charter school to public alternative high school) to get the attention he needs. And be loud and insistent, the squeaky wheel gets oiled as they say.

Definitely get a hold of the Vocational Rehab Services in your state. They've been quite adamant that my son take advantage of all the programs here and I don't think they'll take kindly to a school disregarding the IEP and other recommendations. Good luck. :hi:
