Let me tell you a story from a while back.
This really happened. I used to frequent Capitol Grilling, a political forum which at one time had a good mix of all political pursuasions on it and some good discussion. This was before I joined DU and I've been here from almost the beginning. Well, during the 2000 primary season, there was this particularly obnoxious, quasi-illiterate, Freeper type there who used to go by "tblshow." I'll swear to this day that he was a multiple personality disordered individual because sometimes he could spell, use correct grammar and sentence structure, and seem logical. Anyway, the day after the 2000 election, when everything was in disarray, he was on board crowing about winning and how "Baby, we're going to take America back to before the New Deal!"

I've never forgotten the certitude and frenetic jubilance of his post. I've thought about it often over the past eight years. Sometimes even wondered if maybe we were talking with old Karl of Rove himself. I wonder if ole tblshow pleased with the success of the endeavor now.

1. tblshow might not have been one person
That would explain the differing grammar and spelling. Could have been different people using one user name but pushing the same neocon agenda.

2. I had personal encounters with Rove in that time...
he was purely into power and politics, not policy as much.

That's Norquist speak.

3. I had a similar experience in 2000 with MANY rightwingers on AOL
Didn't know AOL was pro-repub back then - silly me. It was around the time of the recount.

For every post I placed with logic (Al Gore clearly won, has more popular vote, he didn't file the first law suit, he doesn't want every American to ride bicycles, he never said he invented the internet, and all that) I got at least 10 hate responses.

That shocked me, but there was one that I'll never forget. Don't remember what sn he used then, but it was real smug.

"Well, it's President Bush now, and even if Cheney is the president (I wrote that it won't be Dubya but Cheney who'll run the WH - and I was right) you lib-loons {lib-loons??) just sit back and watch how government should be run! America has a bright future now the big guys are at the head so enjoy real prosperity Clinton couldn't dream of!" or something to that effect.

I wish we were talking now. I'd ask him, "So who was correct? You or me?"

I know that even on HuffingtonPost many rightwingers/neocons have at least five handles they use to make their numbers look bigger. I have successfully had two of them deleted for being abnormally vicious with ad hominem attacks (and was thanked by another neocon there calling me Nazi) that had NO bearing on the issue at hand. The guy called himself "yesIvotedDem", and from his posts you could see he didn't.

They're just so sleazy and sneaky and when wrong, they just delete the old account and come back with another sn posting the same crap. Oh, and he came back as Clintonite2009, but he even attacks Hillary and Bill while trying to appear as if he's rooting for them.

I warned him to behave or I'd report him again. He comes back with "I don't know what you're talking about". His style, words, grammar and attack modus operandi was identical to "yesIvoteddem.

Another progressive (and far more vicious poster) agreed with me that he was "yesIvotedDem" and attacked each and every of his posts until he finally gave up.

Those assholes are such cowards.
