5. Yep Brian Williams was talking about the North East
but the Weather Channel link shows several states under the snow and ice. People don't need this in the middle of this economic mess.

I read elsewhere that it was snowing in Dubai and they don't even have a word for snow.

<snip>
A blanket of snow has covered a mountain in a part of the United Arab Emirates, a rare phenomenon for the desert Gulf country, according to local media report.

Al-Jees mountain, 5,700 feet (1,737 metres) above sea level and 25 kilometres (15 miles) northeast of Ras al-Khaimah city, was covered in 20 centimetres (eight inches) of snow, the state news agency WAM said.

"Although limited snowfall was recorded on the mountain some years back, for the first time the peak of the mountain was fully covered in snow," it said.

Local authorities said temperatures plunged to minus 3 degrees Celsius (26.6 Fahrenheit) on Friday and again to below zero on Saturday, The National newspaper reported.

Major Said al-Yamahi of Ras al-Khaimah police told the newspaper that an area of five square kilometres (almost two square miles) was covered in snow.

15. Snow in Dubai? Only one reason for that.
We now have an African American President and hell has frozen over, just like all the Kluxers said would happen.

Look for flying pigs and frogs with hair.

18. yes, its that time of yr
we are at the almost end of winter, and spring is just around the corner. and it snows and snows and snows and snows and just when you think it will end it comes back again BUT
the more snow, the more water, the less drought, the more beautiful spring. I force myself to remember that when I look out the window at the mountains of snow.

6. It's supposed to start snowing later tonight and turn to rain and sleet tomorrow.

Where I live, our phone, power and cable lines are underground, so we've been pretty fortunate over the years with outages. The surrounding areas do occassionaly get hid hard.

I do hope that it stays snow though. Much easier to deal with than ice. Yuck.

enough to do any damage.

10. Yes, we're keeping an eye on it
Bought some extra ice-melt after the last ice storm we had, snow I'm not concerned about. It's what I see tomorrow afternoon that concerns me the most.

11. Oh please.
We made it through the worst ice storm in about 100 years, we've been buried under almost 5 feet of snow, and we've experienced sub-fucking-zero temperatures for a longer streak than we've ever had them.

We're fucking hardcore.

14. Doesn't look that bad
I had a look at the radar and various places in Ontario here - there are no dire warnings of major snow. Even Windsor (near Detroit) isn't getting a lot of snow and it's right in the path of this "disturbance".

It's going to last a long time, but it's not major.

13. Yep.
We will be okay here, come what may. My old bones are telling me that there is a storm coming. And the dogs have ben coming to the door, "asking" to stay inside for the night. It's like we have a half-dozen tumbling clowns running though the house right now.

17. I am ready here in Ohio
calling for another 8 inches or so to be added to the 4 inches or snow on the ground now. Had to laugh about your "half dozen tumbling clowns running though the house..." All my 'outdoor' cats are in snuggled up in the room with the woodstove looking very content. Problem will be convincing them after this month that they are the 'outdoor cats'. May have to install a woodstove in the barn for them. They keep trying to take over my chair.

19. Our cats
are roosting up high. Our 9-month old "puppies" average 75 lbs now, and the large dogs are 100 to 130 lbs. The cats find them annoying, but too large to swat when they are all in here.

We have a thick layer of crusted snow/ice covering fairly deep snow already. We are up on a mountain top, so it's hard to say how deep it really is -- some areas are drifted and some are no where near as deep. I do know for a fact that our driveway becomes more than twice as long in the winter, as it is in the summer.

21. *grrr* No more snow storms! Driving, power, and, heating issues aside I
have to take two cheerleading teams to compete in just 2 weeks. But we've missed a bunch of practices due to weather or rescheduled b-ball games. And last year, we got snowed out of one of our comps. (Really wishing competitions were held in May. :P)

We're as ready as we can be here in NE PA. We have plenty of food and the generator has a full tank of fuel. We actually maintain a ready-for-anything stance from October through March every year.
