Howard Dean, Professor?
Howard Dean has proposed to Yale that he teach a class in an undergraduate residential program on "Understanding Politics and Politicians." His proposal is being reviewed by Yale now.

Yale has a unique system of undergraduate residential colleges. Dean is a 1971 Graduate of Yale College (Pierson college). Here he explains his reasons for doing so: http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/27268

As a DUer and a resident of New Haven, I welcome Gov. Dean to our community! I would hope to be able to perhaps audit his course, but that may not be possible.

Hey, I'd love to see you around New Haven, Professor Dean!

1. I'm glad it's not a full retirement
dean has a lot to offer to the democratic party and America.

“I am not transitioning from politics to academia,” Dean said. “I will still be very much involved in politics. The reason I am doing this is because I am a huge fan of Yale and I had a great experience there.”

3. Yep, he does have alot to offer as he says. It would be great if Yale says "Yes".
I bet they will, tho...

2. I took one of those undergraduate seminars
in the 70's taught by (are you ready for this?) Joe LIEberman. He seemed okay then. I never would have expect that he'd turn out to be such a douchebag.

I think Dr. Dean would make a great professor.

5. Some wine is better as it ages. Some goes sour.
We throw away sour wine. Maybe we need to throw away Lieberman

4. Since this is what Dean wants to do
right now..I wish him the best. It will be a good experience for him and the students.

6. I thought the Panetta Institute should snatch him up.
He'd do well at a think tank. I think, though, that his POV isn't well married to the administration's; at least not now.

However, Al Gore did the same thing--head to academia, as some of us recall. That worked out well for him.

It's pretty apparent, though, that he's been sent into the wilderness. At least for now.

7. Yale is a pretty nice wilderness, especially if you are an alum as Dean is.
It's a nice environment with adoring students and a welcoming community of scholars. He probably misses his "Bright College Years," to quote Yale's alma mater song.

I love how these Old Blues of Yale keep coming back for more...

9. Echh, he's a Yalie, what can I say?
This is the deal with Yalies, they love to come back.

You might havenoticed that he has that rapid speech that Yalies have (Jodie Foster has it too). It's just endemic.

I don't know what it is about but Yale infects many of its graduates. They simply need to come back to the charms of academia and their alma mater...
