It won't get above freezing for about 4 days straight here (I know, that's nothing but still..) I'm worried about the feral cat I've been trying to take care of outside.

9. -16 actual temp here
feels like -26.

Have you been talking to the cat? New Year's Eve I went outside, and said, "who you?" to a furry, little stranger. I was adopted on New Year's Day. He was so cold he just walked on in like he's lived here forever. :)

14. He just came IN?
I wish this little guy would do that. He's SO wild though, he looks at me like I'd grab him and bite his head off. I don't know if he sleeps in the shelter I made him under the back porch but he eats the cup of food I give him every day. Lately he's let me watch him eat :loveya: cute little guy.

Even though he gives me the crazy look I feel responsible for him now. I'm gonna order my own humane trap and if he's still around in the Spring I'll trap-neuter-release him.

10. It's -22 right now in western WI by the Mississippi with a wind chill of -44.
Yesterday my city closed the public schools because it was so cold, today it is colder with a wind chill advisory until noon and the schools are open. Go figure. My personal good news today is that my water did not freeze like it did yesterday, but last night I left the water running to avoid that nagging problem.

15. I live in a mobile home and it is a no-no to leave a faucet "dripping"
because if the water is moving too slowing through the sewer pipe it will begin to freeze before it reaches the end and then totally freeze the sewer pipe which is a much bigger problem than frozen water pipes. I am leaving the water "running". I was so smug that I had that problem solved on Thursday when I went to bed at 2 a.m. and it was -15 and the water was fine and then when I got up at 8 a.m. and it was -21 the water was frozen. Not today.

13. -17 in Watertown, they are supposed to get about 2 more feet of snow
a little warmer here in Syracuse , 0 degrees. We will also miss the lake effect snowband. The teenagers still won't wear coats since the high school banned them and the kids don't use their lockers (my son has forgotten his combination). They double up on long underwear and put on hoodies.
